Hmmwv m1151a1 steering gear box weep whole

Not sure if you’re still in need of a rebuild kit but I’ve seen some one epay. I’m sure you can also get one from some of the vendors.

Where can I get power steering fittings????

Hey guys, does anyone know where I can purchase the fittings that are on the power steering lines?

    Started my duramax conversion. Finally!!!

To tell you the truth it’s been put on hold for a while. I purchased a house with a detached garage that had a leaky roof. I started working on the Humvee but then I decided to redo the roof before it caved in on me. So for the past few months I’ve been working on the roof. It literally had...

    Started my duramax conversion. Finally!!!

Ya I agree. I’m doing everything from my iPhone so I’m a bit limited. The app I’m using does allow me to turn down the music. I tried. I’ll invest in a better camera and app later on. Thanks for the input.

    Started my duramax conversion. Finally!!!

Hey everyone. I finally started my duramax conversion on my HMMWV. I’m posting everything on YouTube. I’ll post the link but if for whatever reason it’s against the rules and gets deleted just search it. My name is GearHeadguy. https://youtu.be/XdgknvaEFPo

    Duramax engine swap

I don’t feel attacked by any of your posts. I actually welcome the thoughts and opinions. I will eventually replace the radiator before I start taking it on any drives. I’m just keeping it in place for now so that I can get all the coolant stuff routed and to keep the engine running long...

    Duramax engine swap

I never said I was going to let the engine overheat. If I notice the temps getting too high I’m obviously going to shut it down. Anyhow, I’m going to be taking the body back off in a couple of weeks for some fresh paint. I was thinking of raising the body mount brackets 3”. This way I...

    Duramax engine swap

It wouldn’t be any more uncomfortable than the factory ride quality seeing how I’m still retaining the factory bushings. But as far as using polyurethane bushings… I won’t be doing that. I have use polyurethane bushings from energy suspension on my avalanche and dad thing started squeaking...

    Duramax engine swap

I wonder if he treated the rubber prior to installation.

    Duramax engine swap

I know a guy who used hockey pucks on his Humvee 6 years ago and he recently took the body off. He said the bushings looked fine and didn’t show any signs of wear. I guess I’ll find out.

    Duramax engine swap

Update: Sorry guys for not posting any updates. I’ve been working on my house since last year to get it ready to sell. Unfortunately he left me no time to work on the Humvee. However, I am happy to report that I bought the tin man conversion brackets for the engine and transmission. The...

    Making your own hard top!?

I wouldn’t cut the B pillar. Whenever you decide to install doors they are not gonna fit well

    Making your own hard top!?

I made mine from 1/16” plywood. I used steam to try and curve the sides. Once I had it all done I added fiberglass to it. Looking back, I would’ve preferred to make it out of aluminum sheets. At the time I did it money was an issue that’s why I went the route I did. PM me if you want more...

    Duramax engine swap

True. I’ll see what I come up with. I will eventually replace the radiator with an aluminum version but for the time being I will put the money where it’s needed most right now (getting the engine running)

    Duramax engine swap

I wouldn’t think so. Especially after you factor in the reatriction that the air has to go through just to get passed the radiator, intercooler and tranny cooler.

    Duramax engine swap

I wasn’t considering replacing the mechanical fan. I was just thinking about adding an electric fan for added cooling. I know the pre-2006 Duramax trucks were plagued with overheating issues. Into 2006 GM went with a bigger radiator and a bigger fan. This seems to have solved the issue.

    Duramax engine swap

Yup. That was the one. Obviously I am not going to overpay seeing how I am so cheap. LOL. I’m just going to find the slimmest fans that put out the most CFM of air. I can just wire it to a temperature sensor to turn on at a pre-set temperature. I’m sure it will still come out to be way...

    Duramax engine swap

I remember reading somewhere that someone had used two pusher fans in conjunction with the OEM set up and it worked great. I was thinking of trying that.

    Duramax engine swap

I think I’m going to give the OEM radiator a shot and see how well it does. I can always swap it out later As as for the drivetrain upgrades... I will be updating the shafts to the 12.3K versions. As for the diffs I am going to leave them in place to see how much they can handle.

    Duramax engine swap

No I have not. I have never dealt with them but I would figure they would tell me whatever they had to to try and sell me their product. I was hoping I could get some input from someone who has already been down this road. Update: The original radiator can be used 👍🏼
