Anyone have a link to a dumbed down how-to on removing the fuel tank? Which panels do I have to take off?

The city tree trimmers shorted a city utilities transformer today, so I was able to confirm that the back-up back-up generator, running on propane, will not start the AC. New start capacitor and soft-start come in friday. Better to find this stuff out now than in a storm.

    My MEP-803a experience

I got my back-up back-up generator in yesterday. 13kw Durolast, 10kw running. I also ordered a softstart for the AC so I should be covered on running the AC and everything else. Going to go ahead and fill my 100 gallon transfer tanks, one with gasoline and the other with diesel.

    Mep-803a as whole house generator

Post your questions, someone will chime in. I was able to run a 5-ton without the softstart. Same experience as OP running the 803 on the whole house without load management.

    My MEP-803a experience

It finally occurred to me tonight to stick the pump inlet into a cup of diesel and try to start the generator. Good news is that if fired right off. So that confirms a clogged fuel pickup, but at least I know the rest of it is OK and I could bypass the tank in a pinch if needed. I did also...

    My MEP-803a experience

I never did anything with the trailer. All that work and I went a different route. It is for sale, though I'm not posting it anywhere. We lost power two weeks ago when that bad series of storms rolled through. Unfortunately, I was out of town and the MEP fuel pump was out, so it wouldn't...

    My MEP-803a experience

I'm going to go with zinc plated steel rivnuts and grade 8 fasteners. If it becomes a problems years down the road, I'll fix it then. Huck bolts would really be the best option, but that would run me at least $1,000 just to get the gun. I do like the idea of the lug studs, and ATV studs would...

    My MEP-803a experience

After further searching, these appear to be Huckbolts. I'm not likely to buy the tool needed to install Huckbolts. What is an acceptable method for attaching more aluminum tubing? Stainless or zinc plated rivnuts? Heavy structural blind rivets? I already have a rivnut tool with several...

    My MEP-803a experience

I got some work done on my gen/trailer yesterday. Swapped the military tires for the 35”s on dodge 2500 wheels. Put the generator and tank in place, to be bolted down later. And got it all cleaned up. Still runs after being neglected sitting directly on the dirt for over a year. Cleaned up...

    Military Generator/HVAC Trailer Identification

Does anyone have a link for the TM on the trailer? I found the TMs for the generator. Specifically I need to know lug nut specs.

    My MEP-803a experience

Picking up a DRASH 23kw trailer only. I can't find anything on the web regarding the trailer, no specs, no TM, nothing. I've gathered from bits and pieces that the wheels and tires are common with the HMMWV and the hydraulic brakes are common to the 1101/1102 trailers. Anyone have any more...

    3-wire connection bonded?

Thanks. It has a 50amp breaker, but I'll verify wire gauge before moving on.

    3-wire connection bonded?

I just moved to a new house and have not had time to run a new dedicated circuit for the generator. What I do have access to is a 3 wire dryer circuit that was abandoned. When using a 3 wire circuit, which of the below is the best solution? I will install an interlock on the circuit. 1...

    Hurricane season

Here we go again. Cranked it up and ran it for 30 minutes yesterday. Also spent last week, about two hours over a couple days, rebuilding a free MS290 chainsaw into a MS390 with a 25" bar/chain. Should be ready.

    Hurricane season

Well, either way, I ran my 803 for about 30 minutes yesterday on the house going from near zero load to 100% when all the things kicked in(dryer, AC, pool pump, well, shop compressor). I'm good to go.

    New (to me) MEP-802A

you don't HAVE to go with optimas. I'm using a pair of the cheapest lawn mower batteries available from wal-mart and spent the money I saved on a 24v battery tender. These ought to only need to crank about 3-5 times to start, so reserve in a yellow top is not needed. It is a 2 cylinder...
