    How to fix Blowby

I think you may be correct Sir, but I believe the 26A is for inductive loads and the 80% is for resistive loads? I read something on one of the threads here from an Electrical Engineering type person who is way smarter on this stuff. I know with the unit that I had that had cracked pistons, it...

    How to fix Blowby

My 803A smokes at hard pull power settings. I think a resistive 100% load on a 240v setting for an 802 should be something around 21 Amps (going by 5000W / 240 V= 20.8 Amps). You had that machine running at 145% capacity. I wouldn't run it at that level for any serious length of time, but you...

    How to fix Blowby

I recommend you do what Guyfang talked about; but if you aren't running the unit often, and when you do you aren't loading it down you will be prone to wet-stacking the unit. You may want to consider coming up with a load test device in your off-season time (i made one out of sheet metal and...

    How to fix Blowby

I've read on this forum that you can re-anneal the copper sealing rings for the injectors by removing them, heating them red hot with a torch, and letting them slowly cool down on their own; it allows the copper to get "soft" again for reuse if you don't have a set of replacement sealing rings.

    How to fix Blowby

Agreed with Guyfang's statement. A quick test is to pull the dipstick with the engine running and get a piece of paper (or plastic bag) and let it 'hover' over the dipstick tube. If it sucks down over the hole, all is well. If not, you have a ring sealing issue. I had a unit I bought from GP...

    Fuel Screen on MEP-8XX cleaning?

It took me a year to get to this (been using aux tank) but solvent was slow and messy so I just hit the screen with a propane torch and burned the sludge out and cleaned it up with compressed air and a rag. Good as new and can see daylight through it now!

    MEP 802a No Start Condition

Is the Dead Crank switch in normal position, and is the emergency stop button on the control panel potentially pushed in? I have run into this scenario on my MEP-803A previously, I had forgotten I turned everything off after a previous run to prevent any potential parasitic battery drains.

    MEP-1040 Owners

Demoh, I wholeheartedly agree with you Sir on essential services and costs being a factor. I went through Irma and such myself in Central FL, and my family was lucky with minimal damage only requiring a reroof and a couple of dropped trees. Agree that leaving isn't a really sustainable...

    MEP-1040 Owners

I know right, sinking over $9k (I would surmise that this is around 75% of new MEP-1040 acquisition cost to Uncle Sam?) into an emergency backup for my house puts me into the territory of "screw it, let's just stay in a hotel" after a hurricane for my family's situation. A 1 in 100 year...

    MEP-1040 Owners

I think I'll stay with my MEP-803A. I just saw one of these 1040's go for nearly $7300 at GP today . That's alot of scratch for a used generator with no guarantees. Can't you buy a new civilian unit with warranty for around that price?

    MEP-1040 Owners

Hi All, I see that the MEP-1040's are slowly starting to trickle out onto the market based on the GP site. Does anybody have any real life use on them as a comparison to the MEP-803A's or anything? I'm very happy with my 803 but I'm genuinely interested to hear about the feedback on these as...

MEP-803A for sale in Live Oak FL

That guy has the Facebook and Craigslist advertising on lockdown and down to a system. I see his ads all the time in all of my south east United States searches.

    MEP803a Marked 'JP Fuel Only"?

If you have access to sumped fuel, you probably have access to Biobor (you need less than an oz for a 55 gallon drum), and you can also run Lubribor to add lubricity.

    MEP803a Marked 'JP Fuel Only"?

No changes required. The military uses JP fuel for everything (simplifies the supply chain/logistics). It's stenciled to prevent somebody from dumping gasoline into it. Jet fuel is kerosene based, so is a bit "drier" than regular diesel. Diesel fuel is just fine in it, and will actually...

    Generator AUX fuel connections

Anybody have a source for the rubber washer on the aux fuel adapter or other piece parts? Mine didn't expand when you flip the lever

Gulf Coast Folks May Want To Order Fuel

The other thing to do is if you drive a diesel vehicle, keep a 5 gallon can with you and fill your can every fill up, and transfer to your 55 gallon drum. I start this at the beginning of Hurricane season. If a storm comes, it's a little less hassle to fill a jug or two to top off.

    MEP-8xx stainless steel screw information

You'll have enough room, when I replaced with Torx SS screws I used 1/2" everywhere no problem with miles to spare. If you run into a tight area, nothing that a cut off wheel and cleaning up the cut threads can't fix.

    service sticker on 803a

I think the barcode plate is for accountability, and seems to be limited to the MCB Albany units.
