What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I see these trucks as a say a Hot Rod or any other custom car / motorcycle / etc. They are to be built, modified, and maintained to the owners digression. What's the 1st thing a Harley-Davidson owner does when he gets his new bike home from the dealer ? Takes off the ugly ass reflectors on his...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Never been a fan of them so I ditched them. I added marker lights ala a civilian Hummer H1 so my truck is more then noticeable.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Starting to prep the truck for paint so I decided to start the ever so fun task of plugging all these random holes on the truck. wanted something that looked factory and would last so the plastic plug route wasn't a option. Decided to go with some carriage bolts in various sizes to resemble the...

    wheel/tire options - budget minded?

Black Rhino makes a wheel in 17" and 18" sizes which looks very "military" and is not priced all too bad. I run them in a 17x9.5 with a Cooper Discover STT Pro tire in a 40x13.5x17 size.. My tires were more then the wheels themselves !

Joe The Barber;s 1988 M998 build thread (be aware - non stock content ! )

The grab handles are a generic alum. handle I got off the Evil-Bay. We scuffed them up and painted them Rapco rattlecan green and they look like AM General installed them when the truck was new. One of the best things I have done to the truck.

Joe The Barber;s 1988 M998 build thread (be aware - non stock content ! )

I bought a Air Horn kit from Air Horns of Texas online. It comes with whatever horn you choose, 4 gallon tank, 24volt compressor, lines, etc. I had the guys who worked on my truck add a 2nd 4 gallon tank for extra capacity and the quick release chuck so I can fill up tires, run small air tools...

Joe The Barber;s 1988 M998 build thread (be aware - non stock content ! )

Joe The Barber's 1988 M998 build thread (be aware - non stock content ! ) Been a long time coming but in December 2017 I became the owner of a 1988 M998. I have wanted one of these trucks since around 1998 when I worked at Circuit City (remember those stores ?) in the car stereo department and...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

    Solarizer system mounting questions

What exactly does a Solarizer do to be exact ? I was under the assumption that it was a solar powered battery maintainer..

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

I am very happy with the Dirty Boyz kit and especially their customer service. Mike Ried over at Dirty Boyz is a solid dude who has these trucks himself and knows his product inside and out. I also picked up the 4 speed shifter from him to complete the package. The 4 speed literally changes the...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

I literally went to a exhaust shop and said put on whatever muffler you have that will fit ! I cant begin to describe how horrible the truck sounded (and performed) with no muffler. I should of known better from past experiences with motorcycles. When it was straight piped the truck had no power...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

4/1/19: First miles on the new setup / 4 speed conversion. As I had mentioned before my truck has been in my friends shop since July 2018 and basically has had a complete front to back top to bottom done to it. Aftermarket Radiator, 700r4, new driveline parts, 2” spring lift , 2” body lift, new...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

I guess every truck is different. Before the swap with my 6.5L/3 speed I could cruise the truck at 60-65mph without the RPM's screaming too bad, and maxed out I hit 75 via a GPS Speedo app on my phone. Along with the trans I also got rid of the stock / heavy wheels and tires and went...
