MEP-003a At what point do you just trust these things???

Thanks in advanced for any comments and help! I'll give a bit of back story and then get to the generator below. I bought an MEP-003a about 1 1/2 years ago and while I've given it a few test runs, I've never really needed it and about 10 hours is the longest I've run it. Saturday night a...

    MEP-003a new to me... comments?

I did check the push rod tube after about an hour. I found out why it says to "close to run".... The fan on the end blows a fair amount of air and when open it comes towards you and not the cylinders. The oil leak seemed minor, but still present. I didn't see any oil pooling below it. I'll...

    240V Heater Deal

Here are some photos of my setup. I did two of the 5,000W heaters for my 003a. The mounting bracket that comes with it worked fine. I had to drill two holes on the long section of the mount for the tripod mount. I also drilled a hole on each side in the bottom section of the heater and...

    MEP-003a new to me... comments?

Well I just finished running it under a 10,000 W load for over two hours. Seemed to run just fine. The Hz needle did not work this time at all, but after checking the transducer I found the problem. With both 5,000 W heaters on full the load indicator was just under 75%. My clamp meter...

    MEP-003a new to me... comments?

I'll try to find him when I get a chance. I got some seafoam, filled the tank and fired it up. It's getting load test as I type. I did check the transducer and it has 120 v AC coming to it, but it had less than 1 V DC coming out. Found that problem. Thanks!

    MEP-003a new to me... comments?

I bought the unit from an individual that bought it from an auction. He bought two. This one was in better shape and he got it running first. Now that I bought it he is going to fix the other one. I'm going to check the transducer next time it running. I do have a descent digital hand held...

    MEP-003a new to me... comments?

If this is the data plate you are talking about it must have been replaced at some point. I can't see any signs of the date ever being filled in, and the serial number seems odd to me too. I'll check that transducer next time I have it running. When I inspected it before I bought it he ran...

    MEP-003a new to me... comments?

Hello. I've been looking around the site learning what I can. I have downloaded and read parts of the TM, but it is overwhelming for me. I'm totally new to these generators. I'd appreciate any comments... I can't find any dates on this thing other than the CARC SEP 07. It has less than...

    240V Heater Deal

That's way more precise than I needed.... but had exactly the information I need. THANKS!!!! I have a couple tripods used for large speakers that I was thinking about using. I can easily order a tripod mount that is plastic and won't need any modification. I was concerned the heat would be...

    240V Heater Deal

How hot does the bracket get where it attaches to the tripod? How thick was the flat steel? Thanks

    240V Heater Deal

It says there must be 6 feet between the unit and the floor. Is this necessary? Im looking at getting two, but don't want to permanently mount them. Would it be an issue to leave them on the ground while they run for an hour or so? Thanks
