MEP-003A Blower Wheel -- Requesting Removal Advice

Hello Scoobyshep. Thanks for letting me know about the CRC stuff. I believe I found it on Amazon "03027 Knock'Er Loose". I am always looking for something to keep on the shelf for such situations as with this blower. What did you use to heat the hub? I believe the blower wheel is aluminum...

MEP-003A Blower Wheel -- Requesting Removal Advice

Hello Ray70. Thank you for the prompt response. I have an old, robust "steering wheel" puller locked down on it now. The center bolt is 3/4" fine thread and the yoke is medium carbon steel, so it should work. Will keep my finger's crossed.

MEP-003A Blower Wheel -- Requesting Removal Advice

Hi Guys. Looking for a simple answer. I am set up to pull the blower wheel according to TM 5-6115-585-34 section 7-7 but I need to know how to block the engine from turning. Someone before me apparently attempted a block using a blower blade and it broke off. I have PB Blaster soaking and if...

MEP 003A Alternator Voltage Regulator Wiring

Hello Gentlemen. I apologize for the tardy report on the replacement of the voltage regulator for battery charging. Easy job (after getting wiring clarifications). Fired the 003 up and confirmed that the batteries are being charged. Replacement regulator was found on e-bay using keyword...

MEP 003A Alternator Voltage Regulator Wiring

Hello Gentlemen, Good information all. Ray70 -- I have tested one of the two spare VR's. Your advise to test all is prudent. Since I exercise the unit weekly, I will include the tests. Light-in-the-Dark and glcaines. I am replacing the existing 200A breaker box with a 200A box with a...

MEP 003A Alternator Voltage Regulator Wiring

I have two, spare voltage regulator boards, P/N 72-5020. Back in 2018 Marty Pontiff sold me one of his A/C rotors, but I have not followed up with a stator. I will go ahead and spare the battery charging circuit. Somebody said that finding the capacitor may be a problem. Living on the gulf...

MEP 003A Alternator Voltage Regulator Wiring

Hello Gentlemen, First, thanks to Mullaney for redirecting my post to the generator section. Second, thank you all for the prompt responses. Once Light in the Dark showed me the picture, I found this regulator section buried in Figure 1-1.1 schematic in -34. The schematic shows with wires 1...

MEP 003A Alternator Voltage Regulator Wiring

Hello Gents, My 003A is not charging the batteries. The resistor required to test the circuit cost almost as much as the voltage regulator, so I found a regulator on eBay. Now, I cannot find a schematic in the manuals to show me how to wire it up. Basically I need someone to help correctly...

MEP 003A, CB2 DC Circuit Breaker Trip

An update on the pump replacement. Purchased three of the pumps on Pegasus ($218/ea). They were in stock. Ordered Wednesday, received Saturday. Free shipping, no tax. P/N FAC-480517, Description: Facet Cylindrical 24v Fuel Pump, 1/4 NPT, 6-8 psi, EMI. Installed today. Problem solved...

MEP 003A, CB2 DC Circuit Breaker Trip

Good evening all. I may be chasing a rabbit, and need to start a new post -- just let me know. After ordering the 24v E-series pumps, it prompted the question -- what part(s) should I keep my eye out for that are rare / expensive? Another way to phrase the question -- for your genset(s), what...

MEP 003A, CB2 DC Circuit Breaker Trip

First, thank you all for the rapid, and accurate responses. Guyfang's exploded diagram really helped. I have posted two pictures that confirm no RFI, and there is evidence the prior owner already did the splicing. I found the Facet pump on Pegasus ($218/ea). Somebody else posted on the web...

MEP 003A, CB2 DC Circuit Breaker Trip

Well actually, I do have a picture of the genset where you can zoom in on the fuel pump block. I don't know if this helps.

MEP 003A, CB2 DC Circuit Breaker Trip

Hi Guys, So to be sure, nobody is insulting my intelligence, and I have a sense of humor (laugh at myself often). I am guessing now that EMI means "Electro-Magnetic Interference" and has nothing to do with the fuel line. This is a dead giveaway that I am non-military. Sooo, there is no...

MEP 003A, CB2 DC Circuit Breaker Trip

Hello Light in Dark, I do not have an inline EMI filter (but based on my experience with my Mercedes 300SD it makes a bunch of sense. The filters have the integral strainers. I checked them and they are clean. I checked each pump by disconnecting power from each. The first pump out of the...

MEP 003A, CB2 DC Circuit Breaker Trip

Hello Gents, During the genset's weekly exercise the CB2 tripped. The MEP 003A started fine and ran almost an hour (main CB1 off). When I reset the breaker and attempted restart it tripped again when I moved master switch S1 to prime. My first impression is that I have a bad fuel pump or...

MEP 003A, Engine Runs, But No Generator Output

Hello Chainbreaker. Sorry for delayed response. I have family in Panama City, FL and am busy helping with hurricane relief. The horse mat is the perfect solution as a vibration isolation between the genset and the trailer I am mounting it on. Tractor Supply sells the 3/4" thick ones for...

MEP 003A, Engine Runs, But No Generator Output

Guyfang, Yes, but . . . I am thinking about 4'x8' panels sided with acoustic foam (rigid or otherwise) that is located between the genset and where people are (50' - 100' away). After reviewing the ASK threads, while ASK is probably the most effective noise reduction technique: 1) the panels...

MEP 003A, Engine Runs, But No Generator Output

All, I do agree that the flashing circuit is still suspect. I will note that when I applied the 9V to the genset the digital gages lit up allowing me to see that the frequency was not 60 (engine speed below 1800). Adjusting to proper rpm may be a factor. NOW, who has a recommendation for...

MEP 003A, Engine Runs, But No Generator Output

This afternoon I tested profo's 9V flash test (see post #13). It worked. Thanks to all that contributed. I am still low on the learning curve, but without your suggestions I would still be in the weeds. Best regards.
