Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

Your cutout using the jigsaw looks great; much neater than the cutout on my M1101 made with a grinder and cutoff wheel. Why are you keeping the shocks? I removed mine and have noticed no difference in towing or trailer suspension action.

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

I am in the process of lowering my M1101 by 5" and need to remove the small bracket that holds the brake line above the axle. It is held in place by 2 huck bolts. The brake line is directly between the 2 huck bolts, which means I cannot get a side grinder with cutoff wheel in place. Also, due...

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

I have delayed lowering my M1101 by moving the axle mount up to the frame while hoping someone else would try it first. Now that it has been done, I anxiously await your report on how the lowered trailer tows without shock absorbers.

    M1101 modifications

I would need to go to the shop for a picture, but jbayer nailed it with his picture.

    M1101 modifications

Well, looks like I'm going to be the guinea pig on this one. I can't believe no one else has a problem with the exposed lights and wiring in the trailer bed.

    M1101 modifications

The space and wiring around the back of the M1101 taillights allows debris to collect there when hauling loose material. So, I have made cardboard patterns for aluminum covers to enclose the back of the taillights and wiring. Before fabrication begins I wanted to see if anyone had already...

    M1101 lug nuts

The M1101 uses a 9/16 lug nut. If using a GM aluminum wheels, the lug nuts must have a "bulge taper" to seat properly. Harleyhouse has the best solution, although I found mine locally at a custom wheel store.

    m1101 flat tire help

No. The problem wasn't that the tire wouldn't hold air. It wouldn't let air enter. I pressed the air chuck to the valve and nothing would go in, not even after replacing the valve stem core. I know the chuck is good on my air tank because I used it to air up the other tire.

    m1101 flat tire help

Today I recovered a M1101 from Ft. Campbell. One of the tires was low on air, which was no problem since I had an air tank in the truck. The other tire indicated 0 air pressure. When I attempted to add air, nothing happened; no air going in the tire. So I decided the valve stem core was bad...

    M1101 axle nut size?

In packing tools for a M1101 recovery it would be helpful to know what size socket to take for the axle nut. Anyone know the correct size?

    M1101 lug nuts

I recovered my M1101 from Ft. Campbell last week and everything went well, except for the constant rain. Glad I carried a rain suit to wear while I got the temporary lights installed and tires aired up. Now that I have it home I want to install the aluminum wheels from my 2009 Chevrolet 2500...

    Pintle hitch question

Amer-Team, thanks for the advice. My hitch adapter should allow me to level the trailer for the recovery trip. When I upgraded my Chevy 2500 to H2 rims and larger tires, I kept the stock aluminum 16' 8 lug wheels and tires to install on the M1101. At some point I want to put matching H2...

    Pintle hitch question

Thanks for the responses. Squirt-Truck, I appreciate your input and would probably get the regular if I hadn't already bought the combination. It is rated at 10,000, so should be okay for the M1101. Juanprado, the hitch I bought is the combination that bolts onto the 12" riser, so I should be...

    Pintle hitch question

I am scheduled to recover my first ever M1101 next week at Ft. Campbell and am trying to make sure I get it right the first time. In reading everything I could find related to M1101s on this great site, a concern arose concerning the pintle hitch. I purchased a combination pintle/2 inch ball...

    Bill of Sale/ SF97

Thanks for the responses. I am new to this and want to get everything right the first time. It looks like I will be making a trip to Ft. Campbell soon to retrieve my new trailer.

    Bill of Sale/ SF97

I was the high bidder on a M1101 trailer. My local DMV office in Alabama tells me I only need a bill of sale to get a tag for a "utility trailer". Does this mean I need a SF97 or will the paid invoice be okay? If the paid invoice will be okay, does it include the VIN? Sorry for sounding like...
