3D Printed Tool for Hub Shimming/Setup

I'm the guy on the LMTV FB asking all the measurement questions. I'm about two weeks out from doing the 3.07 gears (still waiting on seals etc) and after a lot of research plan on doing the TM method of measurement, although I have ordered a spare hub that I'll cut down and try the open hub...

    Air dryer purging oil

Good to hear that there's a possibility its normal. I haven't taken apart the air dryer yet, but I'd imagine its well overdue a cleaning/replacement. I've had the truck for 500 miles since picking up at the auction so still noticing odds and ends. Unfamiliar with diesels so its a learning curve

    Air dryer purging oil

So to add to the saga of things that need to get addressed, I noticed the air dryer purging some oil. Its not a puddle or anything, but the wet tank has a small leak from the drain valve and the tank is getting oily around it. There's also a patch of oily grass under where the air dryer purges...

M1078 with 225hp and high speed gears: pro's and con's

Makes sense. It seems the only way it'd be worth it if the R&P could be bought new as single parts with no disassembly required. Ill look into it as am in the market for 3.07's but turned off by the ridiculous price

M1078 with 225hp and high speed gears: pro's and con's

Not to thread jack, but has anyone tried to change out the ring gear and pinion themselves instead of ordering the whole assembly from an mrap? I haven't looked at part numbers yet but a 3.90 Meritor ring gear and pinion can be had for $300 (I realize this is the stock gear ratio-this is just an...

    Keyed Ignition Switch Issues

Very cool idea, especially given the fact if there's a way to screw something up, Ill be the first to find it. I like the idea of wiring the turn signals and brake lights to the ignition switch, I've already forgotten a time or two and took off with no lights. Ill look into doing something...

M1078 with 225hp and high speed gears: pro's and con's

On the topic of 3.07s, has anyone found a reasonable deal on a set? Going rate currently seems to be around $4k from a guy on fleabay.

    Keyed Ignition Switch Issues

I should have researched this before going out and spending $75 on an "LMTV" ignition switch when the same result could have been achieved with a $12 ignition switch from amazon.

    Joining the stable. M1078

After looking at M1078's for over a year, I finally took the plunge and got a winning bid at the auction on a '98 M1078 with 15,800 miles. 13 weeks later I get the email that the EUC has been approved, and to make arrangements for pick up. Another 2 weeks go by with a logistics company that kept...

    Keyed Ignition Switch Issues

That makes sense, so Ill keep the rocker switch for power and just use the ignition switch to take place of the start button. Thanks for the info!

    Keyed Ignition Switch Issues

First time poster, long time lurker. I finally picked up my '98 m1078 from GP and one of the first things I want to do is to do away with the push button start and integrate the start button as well as the toggle ignition to a traditional keyed ignition. I ordered an lmtv ignition switch from...
