    M916 Novice!

I'm 42 and it's taken some getting used to for me as well, but I think it's a bit easier as I'm a bit older. I'd say it's awesome that you're getting into the fray and figuring out fixes to aftermarket alterations, and I think you're on the right track and come across as very competent and...

    M916 Novice!

Good deal man, didn't realize it was a different modification. I would recommend being more focused on your posts and placing them in the right spots. Like Guyfang noted, placing a parts wanted posts is better. Starting a thread for the specific wiring issue on the modification page would...

    Cab Latch / Latching plate

Hockey pucks are made from rubber, the dimensions are 1" thick and 3" diameter, and they are super cheap. They're my go to for home made bushings and such. Haven't tried to do much thinning of them, but a belt sander would probably take some of that thickness off. Probably work a lot...

    Are these batteries any good...?

There are advantages and disadvantages to swapping to lithium cells, one obvious one to keep in mind is that they have different charging requirements, and you should spend some time looking into your system versus straight swapping batteries out, as you may have to modify or change some...

Transmission cooling line popped off while driving

If the hard line is 5/16 would you still use 3/8 hose or go with hose to match the hard line?

Transmission cooling line popped off while driving

I've not worked on those vehicles at all, but I've done a lot of work on a lot of different trucks, cars, forklifts, etc. over the years. As far as general automotive experience goes, measure the barb and size the hose to fit it. If the book is wrong, then the book is wrong. I doubt there is...

Transmission cooling line popped off while driving

That's a lot of desert life problems, you learn to check your rubber periodically. All of these ones going for sale in the drier climates, like out of Yermo and such, it should be one of the first things to look at. It's not as bad out in the Midwest, rubber wears out eventually, but it's not...

Anderson connector attached to heavy gauge wires passenger side seat...???

That occurred to me as I went back out to break, I was running the watts through my head and 400 amps on 24v is more than enough to power a medium sized house. At 9600watts, it is a tremendous amount of juice.

Anderson connector attached to heavy gauge wires passenger side seat...???

I agree with Coug. A heavy duty high output alternator for a comparable Ford Powerstroke or Dodge Cummins is about 195 amps, usually running around 125 for stock. These are for civilian trucks that have a lot more electrical stock and heavy duty designed for a lot more extras like extra...

    2004 M1083A1 Motor Oil in Coolant/ Lots

When I'm going after someone else's automotive work I've always learned to NOT trust the competence and capabilities of people I do not know, as well as to NOT trust that things were done that someone said were done. I got into auto mechanics from the latter, decades ago. I've also had buddies...

    2004 M1083A1 Motor Oil in Coolant/ Lots

I was thinking the same, going back over other mechanics work with fingers crossed. From what I can tell in researching it, the o-rings on the oil cooler, the oil cooler, and the head gasket are the main things that can leak oil into coolant on that motor, and next from there would be a cracked...

I don't always throw parts at a truck, but when I do it's because of Dos Equis. :ROFLMAO:.

    Alternator charging issue

I got that one from my coworker years ago, I'll pass on the appreciation. I agree with him that it really is an odd way to go as far as most charging systems currently function. With smaller vehicles that can be push started from a dead battery: the voltage necessary to initiate your charging...

    Alternator charging issue

Actually, looking at your specific alternator: they do have internal regulators, but they are not self-exciting. Non self-exciting alternators require power from the ignition switch to turn on the alternator. One wire alternators are self-exciting and remove that. Installing self-exciting...

    Alternator charging issue

I agree with Cucvrus, sounds like your ecu's voltage regulator isn't working, unless there is a short somewhere. An external voltage regulator is a simple solution for both issues. Alternatively, you could look for single wire 24v alternators to replace it with. I had to purchase an external...

Here I go again, only bigger this time. (M51A1 resurrection)

First thing I had to do was change out the two soft lines on mine. I wound up leaving the line that routes behind the injection pump in place til later because it was so stiff I'd have had to cut it out.
