There's a very well put together engine cooling troubleshooting flowchart in the TMs.
Problem is that most people don't have the correct diagnostic tools to complete the tests, (i.e. a radiator cap pressure tester etc).

I'd check the trans cooler portion of the Radiator. I've seen them fail inside of the Radiator and cause Tranny Fluid to contaminate the Coolant.
Btw, You're Mechanic skipped a few diagnostic steps before assuming and pulling the heads off.
So when is a good time to get a "Baseline" using an oil analysis?
I've found that the sooner a "Baseline" condition is recorded, (via a sample oil analysis), the easier potential problems and excessive wear indicators can be found.
What does the TM say about cleaning/maintaining the Unit?
Usually the Maintenence/Repair Proceedure Manual says something to the effect; "Use Cleaner NSN: 123abc or equivalent, Do not use Solvents/Cleaners that contain XYZ."
I was taught that you Buy a Quality Tool only ONCE. Its worth the Time, Labor and Headaches to have good tools.
One of the easiest and best tools that I've carried is a Circuit Tester that reacts to both the Positive, (Energized +) and the Negative (Ground Return -).
The one thing you need to...
It'd make it easier if you'd post the year and model of truck you have.
When trying to disassemble the Valve try to fine a solvent/cleaner that will break down the dirt/corrosion and not hurt the Valve or the medium that the Valve controls, (I.e. oil, water, fuel etc).
The Solvent also needs...
I suspect a possible BAD GROUND CONNECTION somewhere.
when you cycle a DC Item and a different and isolated circuit activates it means that the Ground Return on Circuit #1 is faulty and sought out the nearest/Easyest pathwat to Ground to complete the circuit.
Note: Even when a DC connection...

Over the years I haven't had too much luck trying to fit(i.e. tune) a broadband antenna to a mobile application.
Its a whole lot easier using a mobile antenna that designed to work in the frequency band of the transmitter.
Most adjustible load mobile HF Antennas are INHO not rugged enough for...
