    accepatable fluid substitutions

I have a nice inventory of GL-1 in 5-gallon pails. No shipping, but I can deliver to the East Coast (Aberdeen Rally). As to antifreeze, just check the label and make sure it's Mack and/or Cummins certified.

    Deuce Weight Questions - DMV-oriented

New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicle Services adds letters and/or digits to every vehicle titled that doesn't have enough to satisfy their computers or there's a conflicting VIN. I once had a M38A1 and the VIN came up as belonging to a Volkswagon, so they altered the VIN when I got a new title...

    Deuce Weight Questions - DMV-oriented

In NJ, and many other states, weight is not an issue when tagging Antique or Historical. Go to your state's website and look up motor vehicle laws. In NJ, pictures are required along with the application for tags.

safe to fill up split rims at certain psi?

Kenny, >Milton type lever operated part with the gauge built in and a short length of hose to the chuck. That's the right idea. Merely clippin' a chuck on without some way of controlling the air means having to unclip it while airing up. Years ago my father was airing up an inside tire that had...

safe to fill up split rims at certain psi?

You're welcome, Lance. As for a home made one, I wouldn't risk it. Water pipe isn't very strong, so I suspect the high price is due to the steel used. I've heard that an exploding truck tire has the power to chuck a bowling ball over a 10-story building! This is in some tire safety film as far...

safe to fill up split rims at certain psi?

Maybe it's called a tire inflation safety cage. I bought mine from Gemplers about five years ago. http://www.gemplers.com/a/shop/product.asp?T1=T106&UID=200412300644080789402134 If the link doesn't work, just go to www.gemplers.com, then to Tires and Supplies, then to Safety and do a search on...

    M35A2C

Kenny, I think that I've only seen them on non-winch trucks, but later today I'll look in my puter pic archives and see if I did have one.

    M35A2C

Big Mike, I was told that certain trucks are heavily loaded when lifted and transferred onto a ship and that the stock lifting shackles break, so these special lifting loops were added. This makes sense and I've had several Navy trucks come in that had the loops on them.

Go to this site for installation of the hubs. The truck doesn't have to be jacked up and it takes me about forty-five minutes to install a pair. http://hometown.aol.com/mytjoe73/page3.html

    M1008 Engine Vibration

I had a fan clutch go off center, causing vibration in my M1008. The innards kind of came apart from my constant running at highway speeds. Luckily, the assembly did not come completely apart and fly into the radiator.

    Any cold weather prep needed

Thanks, Longhunter. I appreciate being with a forum that mostly deals with MV's. The humor is great and I've already learned a few things (yes, an old dog can be taught new tricks):) I'm glad to share what I know, there was a time when I didn't know zip about military vehicles and others taught...

    >all your experience over the years, you've probably seen and done it all. Yep, it does sorta read like what you say, Longhunter! He's got a point, though, cause I'll be sixty-four real soon. Haven't done it all yet, but I'm tryin' to!

    Any cold weather prep needed

Plus, SS, there's less chance of getting algae, due to rapid turnover of product at busy fuel dispensers. I once questioned the site manager at the branded terminal where I picked up my petroleum products about differences in #2 heating oil and diesel. At that time the only difference was the...

    Any cold weather prep needed

Al, I should have a few NOS winter covers. If you want one, let me know and I'll see what I have. In some areas of the country, diesel will gel. Depends some on whether it's #1 (light) or #2 (heavy). When I had retail pumps at my bulk plant, truckers would add kero or unleaded gas to the diesel...

    It's been fun!

Doggone it, I've only been a member for a short time and Longhunter leaves. This saddens me because I've been following his posts for quite a while, both here and on the Mil-Veh Mailing List, and almost feel like I know him personally. You will be missed Longhunter and I hope matters change so...
