    Sure it's white smoke and not a light blue? Sounds like it's burning off a little extra oil and or diesel when it first fires.

    White smoke generally means antifreeze issues with the motor. Might want to look at that instead of the transmission. Trans leak is usually a sign of the truck marking its territory.
