Well in Colorado you can put in an engine the same year or newer and as far as the idiot at the counter knows it's stock still your truck doesn't get inspected so all is good
Well mine is not a 5 ton it's an m35a2 what are your axle ratios because according to my calculations I would get 41 mph at 2300 rpm with your transmission so I'm not doing anything the hard way. The duece is geared at 6.72:1 and with a 10.555 foot rolling circumference at 2300 rpm that's 41...
Yeah that was the plan. It would be a waste of time and money not to go all out
soooo it's looking like a double over eaton is going to be the best option
thought about it. but like it has already been talked about the multifuel weights 1800 pounds a 6v92 is 2000lbs and a 6v53 is about 1695 lbs
see here: https://www.powerlinecomponents.com/literature/detroit_diesel/brochures/3_4_6v53t_ind.pdf
Dont get me wrong I love a 4-53 but im after more...
possibly but I have a deuce and that's the goal here to make it work in a deuce. Did some measuring today and the 6v53t will fit very nicely. no real need for a 5 ton TBH

I have heard of people getting 20-23 mpg out of a k2500 with a 4-53T pretty insane really.
On a second note found out today that 6v92's can turn 2300RPM sustained which with another thing I found which is a double overdrive eaton 13 speed transmission which has a final overdrive of .62 which...
it seems it may be a challenge to find an automatic without electronics or one that has it and has all of the needed components. most of the ones I'm seeing people have hacked the wiring harnesses up.
Oh and also and auto you can select to "lock" it in specific gears for certain situations like hills or anything that may come up. So I'm still really leaning towards auto.
a dura max can build some really stupid power at like 4400 rpm (yes I have seen and know someone who has one) but so can a legit 5.9 out of a somewhat newish dodge 01 and up I think but neither one really holds together more than 10,000 miles. It's a thought. But it's a lot. As far as obd2 you...
I used to drive a pump truck in the oilfield a ten speed is easy and it's actually good for a 2 stroke you can keep the rpms up without to much jump between gears bogging you out
A ten speed honestly is not that big. I'm thinking with a 6v53 being shorter slide the forward to compensate for a bit more length and keep the t case where it's at or worst case move it back. Just read a post about the 2.5t transfer cases apparently some guys are inputting 1000 ft/lbs and they...
