    Picking up my M818

It's the wording that is misleading. Pg 2-4 Key 5 - Fuel gage switch (M817 and M818 ) when in “L” position, fuel gage shows left tank fuellevel. When in “R” position, fuel gage shows right tank fuel level. Pg 2-4 Key 13 - Fuel tank selector switch (M816) directs supply of fuel from left or...

    Picking up my M818

The -10 says other wise, but it is whatever at this point. I've know the tm to be wrong on several occasions. I'm on the hunt for a new knob for the selector valve. Now, back to the return spring. Popped the hood and looked at the spring, I'll get a new one to be on the safe side but the spring...

It also says a switch on the dash directs fuel. I copied straight from the -10 The only reference for the switch on the dash is in the -10. I have poured through the -20 and -34 and no reference to it. It is a little aggravating to say the least.

Hmm, then the tm is wrong. Page 2-5 key 13 Fuel tank selector switch (M816) directs supply of fuel from left or right fuel tanks. Page 2-7 key 17 Fuel tank selector valve (M816, M817, and M818 ), when in “L” position, engine draws fuel from left side tank; when in “R” position, engine draws...

    Picking up my M818

I didn't rebuild it. It worked good, I was a little worried when I hit traffic in Beaumount but since the idle started running at ~1800-2000 it did ok. When I switched the tank I already had it running and boy could you hear the difference from going from the red to the df-2, then it started to...

    Picking up my M818

One last picture. Spent the last couple of hours with degreaser and a hose going all through the cab and outside the truck. Tomorrow or Monday I will do the engine bay. Also put all my "BII" in the box behind the cab.

    Picking up my M818

When it started as soon I was able to stop I got out the WD-40 and sprayed the entire linkage, return spring, emergency stop cable, if it was connected or looked like it was connected to the ip I sprayed. I'll pull the spring off and head to napa and see if they have a replacement.

    Picking up my M818

Ok guys, got a little issue. It started yesterday during the trip but I figured it was just because air was in the lines. There is a little pin hole somewhere on the right tank lines. Here is the problem. Start it up, idle goes up to almost 2000. Once you drive it runs good, but once you...

    Picking up my M818

Alright time for the After Action Review. Picked the truck up from Donny around 1430 ish. Went over and made sure all tires were at pressure and Donny was nice enough to grease all u-joints for me. Put the batteries in, I was worried about them moving around, and they did on a bump which...

    Picking up my M818

Ok so it's 2pm cst and I'm eating my lunch letting the ndts cool down. Put the new battery in this morning, strapped it down and no issues. Truck runs cool, haven't gotten the finger yet for driving 50. My plan so far is stopping every two hours to let my back relax and the tires cool...

    Picking up my M818

Ok good news, got it started with a jump. Going to jump it in the morning go to Wally World exchange batteries and get on the road again.

    Picking up my M818

So I put the battery back in but no dice. I feel the worst for the battery. Gonna jump the 12v side tomorrow morning and if it works I'm gonna run by Wally World and exchange my batteries. I hear the relays clicking and clacking. Only other possibility would moisture in the switches from...

    Picking up my M818

Yeah I put both batteries in the right box and I'm going to ratchet strap them down once the other one gets done charging. I took the regular battery connectors and just used the screw posts.

    Picking up my M818

Well picked up the truck from Donny. Stopped at a car wash down the road and washed it off. So far only one little issue but it couldn't have happened at a better time. Battery shorted on the 12v side right before I got on fort Sam Houston. Rearranged the batteries so the can't move, load...

    Picking up my M818

Also, to answer my own question about finding a 12v source in the cab, looks like according to the schematic the cold start switch wire 569 comes off the 12v side. Now I'm guessing, and pretty sure this is a separate switch than the ignition, as it has a separate circuit for the ignition...

    Picking up my M818

So I was thinking about if I needed help who would I call. I don't think ghostbusters would be of much use in this situation and att roadside assistance might laugh so... I will be traveling along i-10 the entire route so if there are any members along the route between san antonio and baton...

    Picking up my M818

Fluids defiantly. Debating bringing laptop, got all the tms on my phone. I'm bringing two batteries with me that I have been conditioning for the past week. Crossing my fingers on those. I'm going to pick up my dad's booster packs we use on the tractor just in case. I was 27th msb from 02-06...

    Picking up my M818

Well the week is upon us, and a very blessed Memorial Day. Please remember to take a moment of silence at 1500 your local time to remember those fallen. Now, thanks to trooper632 for selling me his M818. The trip will start at Friday at a early wakeup of 0230. Conduct pre-trip at 0300, and the...
