    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

I know it's been a couple years but since then I did the 3 tone camo and added two more antenna brackets. I'm trying to piece together a GRC-213 which is proving challenging AND expensive.

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

I added some radio equipment purchased from Pvt. Jarhead last week. Both radios are display only and Inop. Also I took artistic license when installing the speakers and intercom selector so this hybrid VRC-47/VRC-12 set-up may not be anatomically correct. But looks pretty dadgum cool! I may wire...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

I replaced the floor pans on both sides due to rot partially caused by the sill plate screws so the original holes no longer exist. Flipping them around would put 3 more holes an inch away from the existing holes. I could gring them down and fill them with structural filler and pick up nrw holes...

Nice catch guys. Thats how the drivers side was installed when i got it. The pax side had some homedepot looking flashing installed so i just put the new LMC ones on like they had been. Im going to leave them as is. I just cant justify three more holes through the floor just flip them around...

Oh its far from over brother! I've got the fuel sending unit to do this week along with the the front wheel bearings after that. Not the most glamerous or flashy items for sure but very much needed none the less. So sit back and get ready for season 2:popcorn:

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

Ok, so I picked up the truck from the transmission shop on Monday of last week. They had it for 3 weeks. The technician said that the bands were burnt and the clutches were shot. He also said that the plastic accumulator was blown out which likely caused the bands and clutches to give out. When...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

Wow, that's a good find. Glad it was something simple. Oh and don't sweat the crossed connections it happens. I've been a mechanic for 20 years and I will never ridicul a fellow mechanic for making a mistake, lord knows Ive made my fair share. The first time I do the ever vigilant Karma will...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

That's great news! I hope I'm that lucky but I highly doubt it. I checked everything I could think of and all the stuff you guys could too. Everything seemed fine so now it's in the hands of professionals who do these for a living. Hopefully in three weeks she be back in the fight! i wonder what...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

Well my O.C.D took control today and I had a wrecker come take the truck to the transmission shop. Last night the wife and I had agreed to wait till after Christmas to get it fixed,,,,,, oops. I just couldn't wait. I feel like I've invested so much into this project and I'm so close to having it...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

Ya that's what I was afraid of and I appreciate your candor Cucvrus. I guess she is going to sit for a while until until I can find a shop close by who is trustworthy. This will give me time to trouble shoot the fuel guage and heater issues. I might have pressed her into service slightly...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

That was the plan and the reason why I was hitting it so hard but things changed in a hurry this morning. Ok, so to answer some of Cucvrus questions. All the fluids and filters were changed on the vehicle over the course of the summer. I checked the fuel filter and it is still clean. I checked...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

Second day driving the 09 to work. Not good. Just barely got it home. Pulling out of the employee lot it lost torque. Wouldn't accelerate up the hill. The engine revved high but it just wouldn't pull. Pulled over and checked transmission fluid, vacuum lines, no signs of a leak( as much as i...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

After a successful trip to and fro work I learned of several issues with the truck. 1) the heater fan blows but only Luke warm air flows. 2) the washer fluid squirts continuously whenever the wipers are on, 3) the passenger high beam is inop 4) the fuel guage is stuck at half a tank again. 5)...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

So while I was at work I found a clear picture of the fuse bank since the labeling on mine is faded and or smudged significantly. I don't remember who took it or where I found it but I noticed there are TWO not one 20 amp ignition fuse. IGN ENG CONT I believe is how the second one was labeled...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

So this is the fuel guage outcome. I trouble shot per the TM and the needle never moved (cleaned/pollished terminals while there) still no joy. Found a kink on pink wire in engine compartment and repaired, still no joy. Pulled the cluster and cleaned/polished three contacts on guage and cluster...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

Well, got it registered today and went to top off the tank at the gas station around the corner! Drove like a champ. I put $42 of diesel in and the gas guage never moved off half a tank:( I visually traced the red wire coming off the sending unit( not even sure if that is even the correct wire)...
