    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

WOW. It is true. You guys can pick anything out. But you are right they are in backwards. I looked through my 1984 pictures when they were new vehicles and they are in the opposite way. Probably designed to keep the door seal in place from the passengers entering and exiting the rear seat area...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

Great job. Looks really good. I like the OEM clean look approach. You were wise to have the 400 trans rebuilt. Now you know what you have. I always think that the transmission is the weak and most costly link in the driveline. You did excellent exhaust work. And the sill plates look custom. I...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

I am almost ashamed to tell you the truth. But I will. When I first bought the truck 9 years ago the double rubber connector at the VCM on the injection pump was dry rotted beyond use. Well I removed it and just connected the vacuum lines directly to the VCM. It was flawless for 8 years. This...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

I know this is what you would like to hear from your transmiision shop. But I am sorry to say probably not. I received a voice mail that the M1009 was completed at the transmission shop. Now take into mind i know the man and he has done lots of work for me in the past 20+ years. But he left a...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

Sounds grim. I am in the same situation at this time with one of my M1009's. It shifts late and I tried everything. I dropped it off at the transmission shop and told the guy I am in no hurry for it. That has been 1 week. I made that mistake again. I say that to releave the pressure and not make...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

That was going to be my next guess. And at this point with the vehicle not in front of me it is nothing more then a guess. 1.) Did you change the transmission filter and the fluid? 2.) when you check thetransmission fluid is it RED of dark brownish / RED? 3.) Does the transmission fluid have a...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

lost power I think that this one may be an easy one to fix but on the other hand it could be easy but a bit expensive. First thing I would do is change the fuel filter. Do that and lets see what the does. Please report back. I will get to the easy but expensive part if I hear back and you get...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

Hey I am writing this after reading your 2nd day at work entry. Lets start at the top of your 1 st day. 1.) The heater. Make sure the radiator is full and the water is circulating thru the heater core. Remove the heater hose from the radiator and the engine. See if you can flush clear water...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

I know this is not an easy task. But if it were mine. IF. I would eliminate all the hoopla extra wires and return the truck back to stock as much as possible. It sounds like a grounding issue with the gauge. Pulling a ground through another source then it was designed to. But that is difficult...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

WOW 400 grit. I never went any further down then 220. And that was only when I was painting it with a solid paint job. I do the 80 and then jump to 180. I put a good epoxy sealer on it. Paint the whole truck green and do the brown and black within the same day and time period. Makes a nice job...

    M1009 Heavy Maintenance Visit

Hey that is some excellent work on the M1009 repairs. You have definitely spent considerate time and attention to detail. Rarely do I see such nice work on these vehicles. It is usually a poor patch job at best. I hope all the other repairs go as well and turn out as nice as the inside. Keep up...
