CUCV on hospice, wife wants to pull the plug

I think it's common for the seals to leak after several years. Since I didn't have any special tools, it was either the place I chose or a local swap with OReillys or Napa which was gong to be 2x the cost. I don't know if I chose right, but I am finally happy and back in business.

CUCV on hospice, wife wants to pull the plug

Update: The injector pump ordeal is over! The last pump (2nd one shipped) worked perfectly after I switched out the broken lever from the 1st pump sent. I must say that Diesel Care was professional the whole time, and apologetic. They were going to overnight me a 3rd pump, but I was able to...

CUCV on hospice, wife wants to pull the plug

It is Diesel Care and Performance inc. out of Memphis Tennessee. Their website is www.dieselcare.us or www.startercentral.com. It was a say off ebay and it is a rebuild of your injector pump. It was $285, and you send them your pump and then they send you a replacement. It came really quickly...

CUCV on hospice, wife wants to pull the plug

Okay, got the replacement for the replacement injector pump and when it showed up a piece was broken off of it. it was the bottom of the advance lever that has a hex bolt in it. OK, here's the latest, and it's not getting better. Remember, at idle and low speeds it works fine. If >45mph and let off throttle, it pauses when I advance the throttle and has no power or revving of the motor for 4-5 seconds. Then it surges into power. Called the company that did the IP...

CUCV on hospice, wife wants to pull the plug

Update: Put on a new spin-on 3123 fuel/water separator, cut 3/4" off the vacuum hose, used some spit and slid the freshly cut edge of the old line onto the modulator. Took her out for a spin Shifts like new, although I never drove a new one but it sure seems nice. Now to get a new hose...

CUCV on hospice, wife wants to pull the plug

Replaced the injector pump last weekend. It fixed the leaky seals, but the pause that happens when coasting is still there. Only happens when over 55 miles an hour it seems. I'm going to replace the fuel filter again to make sure I didn't get a lemon, as that has happened to me before. Its a...

CUCV on hospice, wife wants to pull the plug

Great advice, everyone! Since its Mothers Day weekend I have a few honey do jobs, but I am tackling this during the week next week, so I will give you some updates. By the way it's the m1008 pick up with a 6.2 liter diesel and has about 86,000 miles on it

CUCV on hospice, wife wants to pull the plug

CUCV on hospice, wife wants to pull the plug...PROBLEMS SOLVED!! STILL ALIVE & WELL! 1986 CUCV sat all winter, then fired right up . Idles fine, and runs fine at street RPM's. If I get to 55 mph or higher, and take my foot off the fuel as in exiting onto an off ramp...there is nothing there...
