Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

98g guess there could be many case's when we tow with a bar. I never liked it and butt was always tight and I trusted the tow bar even though we have had two tow bars break on the board. It is such a hard call what is best to tow a air brake system truck that we don't know the condition of the...

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

Yea no worries that can happen. I feel the main thing here is safety and if you read between my lines then all of our tow bars should not be used. We are not the military and can be sued. The tow bar tm if I rember right was 25 mph. I would rather see them put on a trailer. There is to many...

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

Ok I see what I did and I quoted on the wrong post of yours. First you caped like you were shouting and the last line says ( Otherwise if something goes wrong the towed vehicle has no brakes. That statement you forgot to put it would have no backup braking by way of the spring brakes. So ok this...

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

I know you are tying to explain the workings of a working truck when we are driving it. The post thread he was going to tow his truck with another truck. Yes that system is set up so if all else fails the spring brakes will stop the truck when the air pressure drops. Our safety net so to speak...

The cage bolt we use on the 939 series trucks is a 3/4 inch key if anyone needs to buy one.

With the proper license, bonded and insurance they can tow the caged trucks to be repaired as I have ordered it done along with the permission of the DOT officer at the scales or where the truck had problems. In Va. most of the officers and DOT were easy to deal with as long as you showed them...

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

No worries 98G as I said we don't cage a good can only a bad one so we can move or tow it. Quickfarms what do they do when the big boy wrecker comes out and there is a problem with the air system or a bad can. They cage the bad one and hook and go. Now what we do is it right. Yes we do it but...

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

dashae I think I would take 4 new or good working order caging bolts with you just incase the ones on the truck are not there. Sometimes when the threads get wacked out and the nut jams up and is hard to turn. Also if the air leak is bad enough when you air up the truck you might have to use a...

Also need to reread post #8 as this is correct. There will still be brakes applied so no mini van problems. Just no parking brakes. Hello The OP needs help with what problem he has at hand.

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

Be real. The truck has a caged brake chamber so I would bet there is a problem with the spring brake chamber. To move that truck it will need to stay caged or repaired on the spot. If it was my truck and only one chamber was in need of repair and caged I would tow it home. So of course we don't...

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

Whatever but the truck is going to have one good flat side on that tire if you uncage it and tow it. He wants to uncage the bolt and it needs to be caged don't get him off track. If the cage bolt is snugged down it will not rattle out.

It is easer to remove the whole canister and while you do it do the inner pancake too. The vid makes it look harder than it is. There is nothing to be afraid of if you caging key fits and locks correct. Bring the whole unit to the work bench and R&R there is what I find easer...
