I've read that the cam gear can be pulled with a decent three leg puller. That would be the route I'd go. That or find a diesel shop and throw money at them...
I may be losing oil there also... for sure it's a crack in the cover though. Plenty visible. Went to check the rear air compressor bracket bolts and much to my surprise, one broken, one missing and one loose as a goose! In the future checking these bolts at every oil change is a must.
Well well... diagnosing an oil leak lead me to the dreaded front gear case crack! She really started leaking bad a few months ago and yes, I did inspect my compressor support bracket about a year ago and it was intact and the bolts were tight. Craptastic! Not sure I have bandwidth to repair...
The other day when parking my 16k air brake equipped trailer, I inadvertently unhooked the trailer supply gladhand whilst the knob was still in the supply position. It seems to me that there should have been a blast of air? No such... the trailer brakes work fine but it's always taken a long...
Long and very steep... never noticed it smoking before. Longer steeper and heavier pulls. The leak repair will suck. Pulling the power steering doesn't sound fun.
Been driving the heck out of this truck! She is behaving pretty well. Still need to finish the ac and do the sound and heat reduction stuff... finally got a cargo cover and frame and I love it! Brand new three color! She started leaking oil and I need to steam clean it so I can find the issue...
Interesting issue today, while I was attempting to back up on the icy corner to pick up my generator for servicing, I slid into the ditch and got stuck. I think a locker is required soon... While attempting to extricate myself, I heard a massive whooshing and the low air warning went off. After...
Have not driven her for a few days and went out to light the fire. 10 degrees. A little ether button and violá, of she goes! Oil pressure came up right away. The CTIS did the all light blinky thing so I unplugged it and forgot about it til the truck came up to temp in the cab, boy, that took a...
Spent some quality time in the shop fabricating parts for my lmhc. Just need the connectors for the winch and I can complete it. These are proving hard to find. Have a cheapo temp winch mounted for now. I have a mast and boom extra to build another or trade for things I may want.

My shift keypad has a small tear on the neutral button and doesn't like to select gears when it's cold. Any thoughts as RP to taking it apart to clean the contacts or a replacement? It is wtec 2.
Worked her hard last week pulling a 15k load up a 6 mile 8% grade. She did fine. Slow but plenty of power to get there... when I got home, I noticed the ujoint and yoke on the front side of the transfer case was wet. Trans fluid, dripping slowly! This should be no fun. Hopefully find time to...
I've been looking for the elusive LMHC aka crane for my LMTV and finally found several parts but still incomplete units. Anyone hoarding any parts? I will likely have a few extra parts.
Compressor is in! Discerning eyes will catch the one lower bolt isn't tight. That boss on the bracket is located poorly. I haven't yet decided how to punish it into submission.

Success! After rereading the install write up, I realized the trans cooler bracket spacer was the issue! Nearly ready for a compressor.
