Picking up an LMTV tomorrow... pretrip prep?

I had a chance to lift the cab yesterday and the 24v alternator light was flashing orange. It measured 24.7 volts. While driving around it bumped up to 26v on the gauge but just briefly. Is there any way to adjust this? Is it typically a regulator issue? I'm going to clean all the connections...

Picking up an LMTV tomorrow... pretrip prep?

Here in Ohio, a CDL is not required for air brakes. It just goes by GVW. Registered as a truck and no restrictions on mileage/destinations.

Picking up an LMTV tomorrow... pretrip prep?

It's not that it shifts hard, it just doesn't want to shift unless I floor the pedal. Once it warms up it's fine. I have a thread about it here... http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?143883-delayed-shifting-issue I still need to check the electrical system to make sure that's not...

Picking up an LMTV tomorrow... pretrip prep?

So I've had mine for about 5 or 6 weeks now and so far so good. I've taken it out only once per week to go to the local car cruise with my kids but I'm getting ready to move my machine shop so it'll start seeing heavy use for that. I'm glad you guys mentioned the transmission fluid because my...

Picking up an LMTV tomorrow... pretrip prep?

Good call, I will try that. I kept it at 50-52mph, or so, and it seemed happy. Man, it made that drive seem looong, though. My excuse for getting this is to run deliveries for my machine shop, and after I get some removable signage on it, it'll be a good marketing tool. Or so I tell myself :)...

Picking up an LMTV tomorrow... pretrip prep?

Well I made it home! The truck is clean and seems to have been really taken care of. The only issue I noticed is when the engine fan kicked on around 200°, it wouldn't shut off. It stayed on for an hour even though the temp was down to 160. When I got close to home it seemed to start working...

Picking up an LMTV tomorrow... pretrip prep?

I'm a little confused on the gladhands. According to the manual, there should already be "dummy couplings" on these. Are these what you mean by covers? Or are covers something different? Do the tires have regular schrader valves like passenger cars? I've never seen one of these truck up close so...

Picking up an LMTV tomorrow... pretrip prep?

I'm driving about 120mi to get a 17k mile '94 LMTV tomorrow and then driving it home. It's supposedly in great condition with all new fluids and filters. What should I check before shoving off? I plan to have the manual on my laptop and a list of truck towing companies along the way. I just saw...
