Initial fit. Still have to put down a sealant underneath it. I want to paint the underside of it before locking it down permanently. You can see the old one and how rusted it is. Also covered that hole behind the passenger seat by pop riveting a piece of steel there.
Sorry I have been conducting an investigation and just got to work on it today a bit. Glued the rocker panels, was going to work the cover when both my tailgate cables broke and I almost broke my neck. Thought I could just go get some cable from Lowes and reuse the ends but...
Got the seats out of a Toyota van. I used the bases from the CUCV not had to re drill some holes and use large washers as spacers so the seats would move along the sliders. They recline and with the upper lever lay forward so passé can get in the back.
Got to work on the initial fit and cutting of both rocker panels. Below are some photos, and drivers side I was able to cut more out of the replacement because there was a lot less rust there. Sti. Going to shape them a bit for a more snug fit before screw and glue. Debating on grinding down the...
I took second row seats from a Totota Minivan outta the pull it parts place and aligned, drilled new holes in my current seat braces. Set them back in. I got some mending to do on floor cracks but I gotta plan. 😬
Looking good! Didn't take pics but my wrists hurt after pop riveting those rear corners, but you can rest assured they are better than original. I'll use the leftovers to fix floor cracks by the front seats.
Negative, I've seen your Terminus fabricated box structure. Do you have a different design? Because I was going that direction if I can't get a PVC pipe I could fab up. Rocker panels take over tonight's work.
Yes sir, I found a couple CUCV bodies lying around on Ft. Knox but can't touch them. Nazi's here won't even put them in DRMO so I can get the "small parts" from them. I thought about the self tapping screws but for this application I think I'm going to use the pop rivets as you indicated. Rust...
Two rear interior repairs underway after rust proofing. I will add either self tapping screws or rivets before I seam seal , fill and paint. Used some stock steel from Lowes. Right one was tricky little booger.
Rust on the rockers were not near as bad as I thought. I got a 12inch sheet metal strip from Lowes I will use to patch those two spots in the rear. Gonna cut shimmey in from the bottom then Use glue, screws and seam seal it. I will then clean, and spray some undercoat underneath.
So my son and I have been sanding the big guy down but today I started cutting out the rusted areas. Plan is to not take out the rockers completely but to use the remaining good steel in the rockers and glue the new rockers over top of the old using the bonding glue, sheet metal screws and seam...
Trying to revive after a long wait. We've been busy and now my son is at the University of Kentucky as a freshman. Ordered rocker panels, seam sealer, rear light covers, new side markers, metal bonding glue, and RAPCO paint.
Roger that, I'm pointing out the areas of special emphasis I want my son to sand (as he will do most of the work). I have a friend who is trying to get me near some CUCVs at an "un-disclosed" location so I can replace some parts before full paint. I have a cracked hood, gotta replace both rusty...
Had to go buy a small torch and they came a oozing out. Took a drill and removed the remains in the hole. While it was hot I put some PB Blaster on it and then hit the tar out of it using a socket and a hammer. With the parts run it took me and my son about 4 hours. First photo is the old u...
