    M989 Trailer to camper project

UPDATE: Finally got the inside blasted and in primer. This exposed some holes, poor drywall mud like patchwork, and thinning that I couldn't tell was there under so many layers of paint. The good news is the ceiling is not as bad as I thought it was. Next step is to start patching the area's...

Thank you folks for the advice. Any idea how thick the aluminum skin is? The folks who will do the work have various types of blast media and I will pass along any further info I can get regarding the skin thickness and concerns of eating through. The reasons we are thinking blasting is...

    M989 Trailer to camper project

An appointment has been made to have the S-280 sandblasted inside & out. The plan is to then patch any areas that need it, followed by sealing all seams and applying a new coat of primer & paint. Since I have recently got a ham radio license I'm thinking it will be used as a mobile ham shack...

    M989 Trailer to camper project

There hasn't been any further progress made as of yet but I have plans. There is some water getting inside during heavy rains and the next step is to blast it inside & out to remove all of the layers of paint. Then patch any areas that need it a according to the military procedure I seen listed...

    M989 Trailer to camper project

I got under the trailer today for the first time. I was surprised to find the brakes have not been caged. So it's looking like this project may turn into an M989 brake thread along the way. I also learned the front left spring brake canister mount is broke off from the axle housing. The...

    M989 Trailer to camper project

I seen what looks to be a good candidate on an RV wreck while inspecting the trailer today. Any fold down sunshade experts that can tell me what to look for when selecting one? Are they all the same?

    M989 Trailer to camper project

Great question. I did not cage the trailer brakes and am only asumming they are caged at this point. The fellow we purchased the truck & trailer from said he never bothered connecting the air lines to the tow vehicle since he never put a load on it. The passenger side air line, which I...

    M989 Trailer to camper project

I was thinking of using a DC to 120VAC inverter for running a small A/C or microwave. Haven't dug into this enough to know if it's possible/practical yet. Sharing power with the 24V tow vehicle is the reason I was thinking a 24V system.

Very nice, thank you for your efforts and ideas! We like the fold down table idea, don't always need a table, and it free's up floor space when not in use. We are leaning toward putting an S-280 shelter in the trailer which leaves room for a golf cart. After having a napkin & pencil...
