My tire guy told me that the steel cable in the bead of the 9 and 11.00 r20s is too stiff to get them on a one piece rim without damaging the bead. Could be wrong, I don't know. I'm not a tire guy, that's just what I was told.
I have to wonder if any of them survived. I've never seen anything on here about someone having one. And I can imagine it being an electrical nightmare after 50 years of neglect.

Yeah but you can't mount NDTs on a one piece rim. He could go with radials though. I was under the impression he wanted to try and run the original big NDTs. I know he would have to find new ones.
I don't think any custom wheel makers would take on the liability of manufacturing any kind of split ring rim these days. All it would take is for one person to get maimed or killed and they would sure enough be out of business.
