Some kinda of raising roof makes perfect sense for your height. But it is not the only solution. The German military back in the 60's and 70's solved personnel height issues not by raising the roof higher... but by making sure no one ever needed to stand up. A rolling office chair on a track in...
oh fun fun on the over pass catching you. Hope your eyes 8) caught the overpass sign before it caught your truck :driver:
So far goal has never really changed. Moved forward with refinements and on forward again to present phase of brainstorming on existing boxes and how they might fit the...
Want to swap in the Intermediate axle first and do some other cleanup fixups as well but she is road happy now. IMHO Always best to take the time to plan ahead with good input from great minds. Thus much thanx for any input folk offer.
thanks Scott. Was my initial planned direction and have recommended that to others as well many times. If anyone is interested search the net for BILL CAID for more ideas on this. Member ReBuilder in here is going that route. Also, side note...... Hi-Lo is back in business and I have contacted...
Way to tall for my desires but is one awesome way to go about it. "Being too tall" discussion earlier in this thread now that the Moderator has now merged it with a past discussion on this.
YES You are correct it is proper netiquette to continue threads. Honestly forgot I had the other thread in here till you mentioned it. Lot gone on since then lol. Just searched thru my old threads and found the other one I think you're referring too. Oldztimers disease. Honestly forgot about it...
Ideas for Modular Over-land Camper on 1078
Would love feedback from anyone who gives a rat's arse on such a topic. Having tried to explain it and typed it out once I'd rather not retype it all over again so please consider checking out the conversation over at Expo Portal where such a topic is...
What model Hi Lo is it? IMHO if your not already doing so consider putting single ball connection at tailgate end. Most motion of a truck's ladder frame chassis is at the most rear and most forward end. Least amount is the center of the ladder from what I've read. Besides some models of Hi Lo...
Wheel Wells and Tranny tunnel cavities in the floor solves that.
Addresed in other threads. So not to duplicate/hijack this thread do Search to help find. When got time I'll edit in a link to discussion(s) (update...
Options to remain lower in overall height (Admittingly posting these here for everyone and as a place to store ideas for myself)
1. Lifting Top-
. Hardside raising top (Hi lo / Alaskan camper like)
. typical raising top with cloth that fills gap (VW Westfaula etc).
. Consider only...
Here's interesting one. National Park Service notes on Going to the Sun road in Montana limiting to 10ft high, 8' wide, 21' long. https://www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/gtsrinfo.htm hmmm.... Guess if one can keep their build to making it thru this one then should be golden most anywhere besides...
yup yup... agree on all that. Never saw an LEO but twice myself. Helped him find a drunk idiot before he killed himself, and other time when an ATV'r road off a drop and got neck injuries that required Life Flight. Never heard of anyone saying thanks either cept for planned organize trail clean...
In my experience the most North American issues you run into when Over-landing is tree limbs. More so on the Eastern half of US than the Western half? Boy can they cause damage too. One day of trail riding can leave you with a whole weekend of repair$. Besides; one way to get the hackles raised...
Good point lol...... one could say what kind of travel one chooses may be based one's size of balls :D Whatever the size does not matter in long run just enjoy. (notice: bad long pun not intended..... )
Now to steer back on target.
Angled/tapered roof edges seem to help for Overlanding...
