update, after buying some speed switches, and not getting them due to shipping nightmares, I just purchased one from a company called electro mavin. nice folks. I have one on the way and cant wait to see this generator work. I will keep everybody informed. as always thanks for all the help.

Getting one from oshkosh. Somebody on here e mailed me but has not replied to my e mail. I might wait one more day before pulling the trigger with oshkosh, they wouldnt be doing anything till monday anyway. Thanks so much for your help.

ok I got a meter from harbor freight. I have 138 volts at idle, then the voltage goes up as the idle is increased. the frequency gage bounces from 1-3 and does seem to go up as the speed of the engine is increased. at one point it was at 6 which I think should be correct as the meter is a 20k hz...

Tried the frequency transducer no change. What creates the voltage in the first place the altenator on the engine? I assume the voltage has to start somewhere to excite the circuit right, something has to flash the coils to make the magnetic field or lines of flux. Im sure this is one of those...

Ok i changed out the exciter box, (brand new exiciter box still in the original shipping carton) with no results. The freq gauge pegs and the motor shuts down with a over voltage fault. What do you guys think about the frequency transducer? I am going to try changing it and see what happens...
