It was the preheater that caught fire. I laughed until I cried! The fire alarm went off, the MP's came. The german fire department on post came, and 82 thousand other people who wanted to see the building burn down! What a circus.
When the gen set has been long in storage, DO pour several DROPS of oil into the port that is capped over with the yellow plug. Let the set stand a while, to allow the FEW DROPS of oil to lubricate the cylinders and rings, before starting. I will be dam*ed if i can find it in the TM's, but do...
You cats are about 22 miles over my head.
BUT, I am better looking! Or so I have been told.
I am glad you guys are brainstorming this out. THIS is just THE REASON we have this great forum. People coming together and solving problems. It's not so much helping people fix things. And that is...
Well, that was what I get for shooting off my mouth. I can NOT read the wire schematics! They are so fuzzy, I can not make heads or tails. And did not see a S-1 schedule. I will try and find an older version of the schematic. Might be able to read it. Darn.

I thank all of you for giving me the chance to be a part of SS. Its simply fun to do what we are doing!
When I work on the 150 KW Turbine driven gen set for Patriot, we used a MPU system. And the funny thing about it is that I can not remember anything about it, as we never had a problem. I...
The military has been using MPU technology since the 80's. The bugs are worked out of it. The only problems encountered, are normally dirt and metal filings. All other problems are user caused. Screw in the mag pick up to far, need a new one. Screw it out too far, won't work. Since the first...
For engine crank stop, on the 802 or 803, the MPU, (Magnetic Pick Up) sends a signal to the A-1, (volt regulator) to cut out the starter and excite the Main gen, at a predetermined RPM. That signal should work. For the 831, you guys have look at the schematics. I am almost sure the 831 has a...
