YUP! lol especially on I-57N, that was horrible when I had my Silverado and a 31ft travel trailer, I thought it was gonna bounce me death. I can't imagine doing the same stretch in the 5T
So does mine, I didn't really know how much till this Class III started to really urk me. I was down under the engine and since my **** springs are just covered in oil it has seeped between the spring leafs. Not necessarily a bad thing, but having an oil leak in general is for me. Anyways, I had...
I gotta go and do the the monthly line points and more of the PMCS, I'll try to look at mine and see if there is any room for the suggested "slam". Not my cup o tea, but I'm still curious.
Lol it never seems to take long for me or Moose to get distracted it seems lol. ****SQUIRREL!!****
Front bumper needed ASAP! Lol
I wouldn't weld it, at least not until you know you like it. Bolts are easy to fix...just take them out...welds not so much lol.
40"?! Holy crap Moose! Whatcha need all that real estate for? I could be wrong but it thought the standard front winch extensions only bumped it out about 18"
Either way, I'm sure that hold enough weight to smooth the front suspension ride. Be really nice if I could mount another spare tire up there permanently, but headlights would be the problem.
Once I get the front chassis extended I really need to find some of those tool boxes you have red. I definitely need more room for tools and I don't really want to put them aft of the cab at all, that is reserved for other things, like fuel tanks, generators, and general storage.
Found the pics, looks real nice SD! Right now I'd be happy with frame extensions and a winch, then I'll worry about replacing the front bumper. But the idea of mounting and hinging from the front shackle points is great if I never do get around to replacing the bumper.
I wonder how the rears will fair with 10k# on the rear full time time as an RV then. Makes me wonder about the longevity. Do you have any prior knowledge about that bogey before it was installed? I.E., miles and age? I really don't like the idea of having to change the design of the suspension...
I think it will depend on where you plan to place the airbags in relation to the axle mounting points on the lead pack as well as the leaf pack mounting points to the chassis. If I completely understand what you're thinking of, you're after a progressive style front suspension. I think it might...
Since I mentioned the air ride cab, I've really been thinking about its feasibility. I just took pictures of my truck and I think it could easily be done.
The mount for the front of the cab (cab side) has convienient round holes above the body pucks that could be modified to hold a pivot point...
I have to agree with you Moose, LEOs can be downright vindictive if they think you are challenging them. Now I'm not saying to take it lying down, but it's better for us to just say 'yessir' and move on until the court date, then you can take in copies of the legislation in your defense and they...
You can debate that with the millions of 4x4's that use them legally. If I were to do as the OP asked and for some reason it HAD to be the suspension to change then I would massively over-engineer anything I did to it. But if it were me, I would change the seat and the cab to air-ride instead.
Just for the record, while each individual truck vary slightly, and will change with the load carried, the weight on the front axle is about 5tons and most of that is from the engine. I have the 6CTA8.3 so mine was 9,840 lbs exactly but that was when it was just a cab & chassis. I haven't...
