Well here it is. Arguably the greatest little pickup engine ever designed. This ones been rode hard and put away wet. I’ll start going through it after a little more cleaning. It looks bigger out of the truck!
First task is to convert the trans to 4wd, then convert manifold and turbo to...
So would you do bolts/studs and leave the stock gasket? Because that’s a lot less work than replacing gasket. And when you say turn up at all, then I’m confused by the 290hp comment because that’s almost double the power of stock!
I was just quoting what arp studs would cost, 435$, plus a gasket ~$100 and associated other stuff possibly needed. But bolts is another way to go I guess. But my research indicates that under 45psi boost doesn’t “really” require new studs or gasket. And some folks retorque to stock bolts...
I was thinking it would be fun to do some free/ cheap power up mods while it’s in the truck a baseline of performance and play with it before pulling. Wow, the ve Pump has a LOT of adjustments. Ive always heard about fuel screws and I’ve turned a few with good results, and my ford has a custom...
Wow awesome that’s the list I need! Yes I’ll have many questions. I thought yours was already on the road, apparently we will be doing concurrent swaps. That’s good for me lol, hope you have Long coat tails.
Yes it’s a 12v, 1992. Not sure what differences it has to a 95, not many I think...
Well I found a Power pack! Came in a crappy dodge wrapper but made it easy to get home! So, I think this is my direction. I’m happy, as I said, owning one of these engines has been a goal for a while irrespective of the humvee project.
So, now I’m researching what to do to the engine before...
Not sure I want to match the performance of what is largely considered a grossly underpowered setup, and gaining weight is only acceptable if it comes with performance to match.
I met Cher once, hang out and had pizza which she bought. I don’t get too star-struck, but she’s quite a woman.
I’m sure we could find a worse engine platform, but names like ugo and Range Rover might come up. Maybe the Gm 350 diesel?
The 4bt solves the length issue but the height remains. And they are kinda loud and rattly. Sigh. I keep thinking this is my big chance to get a 6bt in my stable but...
^LOL!^. Well, I do love diesels but I’m not sure why. They sure haven’t saved me any money that’s for sure. I’m curious why people seem to thing that the SBC is a better choice than a BBC though. Seems like the BBC is a good fit and just as easy and cheap. Probably same economy as well. I...
Ha true. Well I’ll say this, I’m unwilling to entertain any defense of the 6.2/6.5 design. I don’t care how much people like theirs it was a piece of crap design and I tried to love it. But with 3 grenades under my belt I think I’ll pass. However the 6bt is really too long and too tall for a...
Motor swaps -edit: (6bt) cummins!
Well I was pretty set on a 6bt swap but I started wondering if a 7.3idi turbo swap would be easier in some regards. It seems like the engine bay is really designed for a V8, and the 93/94 7.3 has around 200hp and maybe with tweaks can be bumped to around 230hp...
