Military Police markings arte a big NO GO!!!!

Michiganders have an out on this one. If we get a historical plate and the vehicle was not originally equipped with one then you do not need one. My 1984 Cucv will be eligible next year for the historic plate but it is a daily driver so I will have to rig up a light. I was going to put one on...

Military Police markings arte a big NO GO!!!!

Mine is a daily drive. In Michigan I could bend the rules to do it but I would clearly violating the law. In Michigan you can be cited for using a historical plate on a daily driver.

Military Police markings arte a big NO GO!!!!

Kyle, I understand and respect your opinion but being someone that deals with interpreting laws for a living I have to say you are wrong. If you have any attorney friends run it by them and see what they say. If he goes to complain to the trooper or officer's supervisor that supervisor will...

Military Police markings arte a big NO GO!!!!

But we (LEO) have a lot of practice at reading the law and knowing how it is to be interpreted. In the end it is not how the LEO interprets the law it is how the prosecutor and ultimately the judge or jury interprets it. Knowing what you local judge thinks about an interpretation is real...

Military Police markings arte a big NO GO!!!!

Yes that would be true. Maybe you New York guys need to get together and get the law changed to exclude historic vehicles. I also think that MP marked vehicles would be pulled over much more than one marked like a regular military vehicle but it does appear that they would be in violation non...

Military Police markings arte a big NO GO!!!!

I just read the post by Capt. Marion and I would say you were not in compliance and he had you take them off to avoid getting the citation.

Military Police markings arte a big NO GO!!!!

Rizzo and David Doyle beat me to the comments on the flashing beacons. One small point is that a lot of old cucv's are used by some departments. My old department in TN had a couple of cucv ambulances they used for Swat Vehicles. They did paint them white. I would not have made a stop on the...

Military Police markings arte a big NO GO!!!!

I figured it was only a matter of time before someone got stopped for this. A way to get around this might be a magnetic mat to cover the markings while on the way to shows and parades and such. When at the show you can take the mat off for display.
