803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

It does sound so much better. I knew that the issues could be resolved with the expertise of the membership, who I thank for their input and support. Now I have 2 MEP803As, one with 1 hour on the engine and 1 with 60 days (1400 hrs) on the engine........which to keep and which to sell? There...

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

Got the rocker arm replacements. Glad I decided to do the entire rocker set. Each one of the previous rocker arm sets were totally destroyed and not a single piece can be salvaged. Such a waste. Installed, torqued (not are TDC), bleed down for 45 min, retorque to 25 lb ft, rotated manually...

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

I have three down units that I could scavenge from if really needed. But I would rather keep them as intact as possible should I need to get rebuilding these units as well. Some of these are nearly splayed. I have never seen anything like this before and know someone was not paying attention...

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

Just got notification that these rocker arms shipped. I asked for faster shipping due to Florence. There are some people who might need these generators starting Sat/Sun and I hope that I can be ready with 2 gensets to help if necessary. My brother lives near Columbia.... Hope that this...

Thanks for that and thanks for the tips along the way. They were and still are appreciated. Hate an unsolved puzzle. My wife says I am single focused on things at times to the exclusion of other things.

Pulled the covers. All valves working, but something still not right. Took video....uploading now but still no internet......argh! Still something catching my eye though......just can't lock on....... Number 1 intake looks different......tiny tad tight maybe? Screw it.....pulled all the...

I was also thinking valve train. I am sure timing marks are correct. Checked and verified several times. Will have to pull the cover, muffler, fuel lines to the injectors, and the valve covers. Squeezed out a couple of hours today so I will see what is up and post again. I can feel the...

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

As posted above. Broken wire (what I suspected from the beginning). Broken "pull" wire repaired, solenoid pull function works. Not the batteries. Brand new. Tested for voltage. Carbon pile tested. Batteries are good. Genset charge system putting out 26v to the batteries.

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

I wanted to upload a video but I got hammerred by lightning yesterday. It took out my cable modem, both of my wireless routers, killed 5 voltage transformers, killed the TV, killed the surround sound system, killed my wifes work computer, a ceiling fan, and popped a single circuit breakers and...

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

Partial success. The fuel solenoid felay issue is solved by repairing the pull pin connection. I was able to save the pin and reconnect the wire. Now I bet my original is still good.... The engine does not sound right. There is no marble sound like in other diesels but there is a ploop...

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

Saw that the drawing is correct from the schematics I found in the TM. Found a broken wire at the 'pull' pin on J14. Due to the ties, it was held in the J14 so it looked connected. As soon as I cut a wire tie to get a better look at the wires, the center wire came out of the J14 with no pin...

How sure are you on the drawing? Could have sworn that 100D16 was the pull wire on pin 2.

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

The troubleshooting guide is of no help. It does not address the circuitry of the solenoid circuit. From the tm: 2-95 FUEL SOLENOID.2-95.1a.b.c.d.e.f.g.h.i.j.2-95.2a.b.c.d.Testing.Open left side engine access door and disconnect negative battery cable.Measure from fuel solenoid housing (17...

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

Nothing wrong with my batteries. They are brand new and crank the engine just fine. This is not a battery issue. From the tm: With the cranking relay energized, power passes from the batteries through closed contacts of the crank-ing relay to energize the solenoid and the pulling coil of...
