SInce its an off roader and not stock, I'd do a rear winch. Moving the weight to thee back of the truck would help unload the heavy front end in the mud and you can always suck yourself back out of where you were going when forward momentum ceased.
Rizzo, your friends just left my house 2 transfer cases richer. They told me about the bobbed deuce on 53s. I gave them Matt's number, guess they are looking for front springs for a bobjob of their own. Mudfest is only a 60 mile trek from the house, I'll be gong next year.
9' is the ideal bed length for a bobbed deuce. I'm glad you laid out the truck in correct proportions instead of letting that aft driveshaft dictate the wheelbase. Cool thing about using a deuce bed is you can chop 3' out of a top and put it all back together and it will look military.
55, the 3052 swap is a direct replacement for the 3053A that you have. Its the same case for both trannys. Matt might still have one. They pop up every so often and usually inexpensive. It also gets rid of the crazy h shift pattern.
