I got the new governor in last week, and the generator works great. If anyone has MEP-531 questions in the future, I'd be happy to help out. Once you take a look inside they are pretty simple machines.

I finally got a free sunday to pull the motor out of the 531 and take a look around. Sure enough, governor pieces were floating around inside. A new governor gear is coming, and should arrive this weekend. I'll post an update when its running again
