    If jerking on the -strap- is anticipated, and who doesn't jerk on them, then a dynamic -strap- is called for. There is a category of recovery devices called a kenetic rope. I carry a 30 ft Bubba Rope rated at something like 100k lbs in the LMTV. Haven't used that heavy one yet but they work...
