    pyrometer probe location

    I used a large shop vac while drilling and tapping. Once I was about to break through the manifold, I started the engine up and finished the hole. I also used the shop vac to suck out anything from the hole/manifold. Ive done multiple trucks this way and never had a problem.

    pyrometer probe location

    This is where I have it on my truck and on countless other motors. Keep it to a max of 1200F sustained and you will be good to go! I suggest using a 1/8" NPT probe.
