OK, are you measuring to ground? If so then you should find the breaker for the transmission and see if there is 12V there, should be on both sides, we will worry about the relay later.

    Transmission 4l80e

The wires marked with 290C and 290B should be going to pins 3 and 4 of the relay, there should not be 24V on those pins wires 67T and 29T should be going to pins 1 and 2. and that is where you should find 24V (29T) and ground on (67T) pull the relay and see if you have continuity between pins 1...

    Transmission 4l80e

You should have 24V on 1 and 2, (in run position) you should have 12V all the time on pin 4 to ground and switched (run) 12V on pin 3 to ground.

I do not see a wire marked 290

So if you do not have 12V on pin 4 (290B) then back up to the circuit breaker (290A) and see if you have power there.

    Transmission 4l80e

Do you have 12V on pin 4 (290B) 290A connects to the transmission circuit breaker, it carries 12V directly to the TCM (12V all the time) turns into 537B, it also is spliced to 290B which carries the 12V to the relay pin 4

    Transmission 4l80e

So you are getting 12V on pin 3 of the relay in the run position?
  8. Mogman

    Transmission 4l80e

If you do not have 12V at pin 3 of the relay (in run position) then see if you have 12V all the time on pin 4, if you do the relay is not being activated or is defective, see if you have 24V across pins 1 and 2 in the run position, if yes then the relay is bad. If you do not have 12V at pin 4...

Basically all you should need to get codes from the TCM are,,,, Power to the TCM, a confirmed working trans light and confirmation that you are actually shorting the leads to get the codes. if all of these are met and you still do not see any codes then you would start looking at the TCM itself.

    Transmission 4l80e

OK, now see if you have switched 12V at the TCM wire 291D, pin i You can also look to see if you have 12V switched at the brake switch wire 810A and the trans. light wire 667B how do all the connector pins look?

    Transmission 4l80e

Do you have 12V on pin 3 of the relay when the run switch is in the run position??? (290C)
  12. Mogman

    Transmission 4l80e

If the light is coming on when you put the switch in the run position then the relay is working, you need to check voltage to the other three locations.
  13. Mogman

    Transmission 4l80e

You need to look closely 290B is hot with 12V all the time, carries 12V to the relay,, 290C is switched 12V from the relay Then it goes to 4 different locations, the light, the stop light switch, the transmission and the TCM under different wire numbers, use the link as the posted schematic is...

    Transmission 4l80e

Well then that is the first thing you need to figure out, sounds like you have a wiring problem or possibly no power at all to the TCM. Without the codes you you are just pissing in the wind, no need to go any farther until you figure out why you cannot get codes
  15. Mogman

    Transmission 4l80e

What codes are coming from your TCM?
