    Slightly longer answer, the specs above list it as max charging of 50a, and even the oldest HMMWV has at least a 60 amp alternator, and newer ones can have up to 400 amps. The starter is also going to draw more than 200a. That battery appears to be a deep cycle version, not a starting battery...

    I have no more faith in optimas these days than I do in the el cheapo wally world specials. A friend installed one into her Toyota. At 7 months it was no longer able to start her truck.

    Flat top group 24 batteries work with the hold down, no spacers required. These are 24AGMs from NorthStar, sold through BatteriesPlus. A bit more expensive than wally world specials, but 48 month full replacement warranty, and being AGM they're just much better to begin with...
