    My 4L80E trouble codes

Many of the 400A alternators have an undersized pulley so it will charge more at low RPMs, this will make your tach read higher that the RPMs actually are. It's going to scream like a banshee anyway. looks like Coug beat me again!! :giggle:

    My 4L80E trouble codes

Most of what you buy that is not from one of the recommended dealers is Chicom junk especially electrical parts. What model truck do you have? Do you have the 400A alt? (that's where the tach signal comes from) The higher the voltage is compared to what it should be tells the trans that the...

What were you getting at WOT?

    My 4L80E trouble codes

I was going to say if it was too low, set it to .5v, .51 would also work, as long as it does not go below .2v or higher than 4.9v it will "work" just the shift points may be a little off. Setting it to .5v is not the correct procedure but will get you real close.

Also on page 75 is a pretty simple test procedure for the brake TCC switch.

    My 4L80E trouble codes

Here is the TPS circuit, you simply take a volt meter and pierce the insulation on wire 355 with the positive lead of your meter and ground the negative lead, you should see aprox .5v at idle and 4.5V at WOT (wide open throttle) Run switch on and of course you want to unplug the glow plug temp...

    My 4L80E trouble codes

If you read the suggested page in the troubleshooting manual you will realize unplugging the wire will only tell the transmission the brakes are on all the time. If you are going into limp mode with the TPS plugged in you must start there anyway, the transmission will NEVER work correctly...

    My 4L80E trouble codes

All the information you are requesting including a description of how the switch works is in the troubleshooting guide. Try page 73 Operating without the TC lockup is not advised as the torque converter creates much more heat. Also you cannot simply short the wires to simulate a no brake...

    My 4L80E trouble codes

Being a failsafe device it would be closed not open for normal driving. I am completely wrong, there is a reader that will I am told will control shifting, live and learn. https://www.ebay.com/itm/304707558149

    My 4L80E trouble codes

So you set up a "cheater" switch that connects to the leads for the trans side of the brake switch to confirm TC lockup?

    My 4L80E trouble codes

That would still simply show up as a code 37 or 38 yes?

    My 4L80E trouble codes

If you find a scanner it will not likely allow any manual control, that is a very early and basic TCM and the H1 was a civy truck so it would have a OBD connector you do not have. For the most part just getting the codes and some other very basic stuff like RPM is all the diag on that TCM. Why...

    My 4L80E trouble codes

    Are you pulling any codes???

    My 4L80E trouble codes

You can and should go ahead and troubleshoot that problem first if you plan on having a shop do all the work as they will not release the truck in that condition, the last I remember you are looking at a failed TCM. You could go ahead and put a new filter and fluid in the transmission, it of...

    My 4L80E trouble codes

It common enough for any transmission to fail especially with a 19 year old at the wheel. The 2wd and the 4wd have different output shafts, the first thing one puts into a transmission is the output shaft so a complete disassembly is required to change it. I have actually seen much worse than...

    My 4L80E trouble codes

No it is toast, any decent transmission shop can build that transmission, there are literally millions of them on the road.
