So if i was wrong on both counts..... what effect (internally) does shifting into first gear with the tranny have on the transfer case? Does the shift fork that resides on the end of that reverse shift shaft have the capability to pull that shift collar forward?

there is a little piece that is labeled part 1 in...
1 - Correct - and if, heaven forbid, one side of your front axle stopped completely, then the other one would be driven TWICE as fast by the sprag. No thanks!
2 - No such kit, really, because there are so many parts that are different. Easier to get a new case. There used to be a REB kit that...
