Sorry guys,
Been mowing all day today. I paid $3500 for the engine, $300 for the Jakes which are not installed and probably need a fresh up kit. I would like to get out what I have in the motor but make me an offer........
I have two oil pans for it, front and rear sump. It does not have a...
Well, another turn in the road of life.......
Got my hands on a 400 Cummins w/ Jakes already on it. Sent the pump to get turned up (HP and RPM) and installed a dual feed fuel line. Cleaned it up and test fired it (not on the wood blocks!). So now I have a 350 Cummins for sale with a set of Jakes.
Okay Will, I'm picking up what you are putting down! I'll be sure to check that and thanks for the link! I don't know what the specific part number on the Jake is yet except that they are 425's. The price was right so even if they don't work I can sell them. :-D
The thing that sucks for me is that I cannot move the t-case back as it would hit my underbody hoist. For right now the stock five speed will do, more planning will dictate if that avenue will be travelled down.......
There is a single outlet from the turbo to the intake top. (see pics) Is that classified as a single entry turbo? I bought a set of Jakes today, number 425, the fella said they would work on everything except a big cam 4. What do you think?
My buddy is a metal guy, we're gonna mod the hood. I agree that the body lift would be very invasive but would be cool if everything else was raised with it. That way I could run 52's with PLENTY of clearance!!!
Hey Karl!
I will be calling you, I'll need all of the help I can get. As for the rest of you, I'll answer questions tonight and post a few more pics of the engine in the back of my 3/4 ton Dodge.
No.2 will finish before me, no question as I won't really start this swap until early Spring!
Lance,
This engine is a Cummins recon with 212k on the clock. The truck that it was in had an incident and is being parted out. The guy I'm getting it from has it ready to run for me and then we'll inspect what we can easily. $3500 cash for the whole nine yards.
Eddie
Garp,
Thanks for all of your help on that 3406, it was well worth the money but I didn't want to have to source up all of the little parts to make it work. This will be more of a bolt in for me, time is a luxury that I cannot afford! I think that I have to use the pan off of the 250 (rear sump)...
Dave,
I've kicked around many options but right now I'm going to stick with stock. If I drive it right it will last. My dual PTO comes off of the stock tranny for the winch and dump and I would hate to have to change that all around too.......
I'll see how some of the other conversions are going...
Oh, and by the way, I just picked up a set of Jakes for it. I'm going to set them up a three stage system. Don't know about the muffler yet, I'm leaning toward none!
I've talked about it for a while and here it begins. This will be a long term project with updates along the way so stay tuned! I purchased this engine last Friday, it is a Cummins NTC-350. I pick it up Monday and it will be taken to Diesel Injection of Pittsburgh for a 425HP upgrade and some...
