The reason you do not have a ground post on the DL7157 unit is because it is NOT an isolated ground alternator. It uses the housing as the ground. that is why you CAN NOT use the unit on the passenger side.
No need for the ground wire. Just don't throw it away as you may need it in the future...
NAPA has a remanufactured Isolated Ground Alternator. WIL 90014277. Wilson Alternator rebuilds them. Cost ~$220.
Just make sure you test the alternator before you install it. They have had some issues with the rebuilds of NOT being isolated grounds.

A fair price for an alternator rebuild is around $85. I have seen them from $50 to $165. Depends on the shop and what they are replacing.
