    If that bad it did seal at times.... (!?), I would try restoring its face a bit... which isn't complicated at all with a lathe or drill press, fine sandpaper (start with 500 end 1500) and some patience. (Done that many times to restore air governor, horn solenoid, fuel shut-offs, etc.) My vote...
