I did a tour at PMRF Barking Sands on the island of KAUAI in the mid 90s. My base housing was less than 2 minutes from back door to standing in the ocean. The base was not fenced there and locals would often get stuck in the sand and wander illegally into base housing looking for help.
I had...
You need ALL that and a few good friends you can trust. Smart friends. Not the "Hey watch this chit" friends like we all have.
Even with all the correct gear and knowledge to use it, it's tough to get unstuck alone.
You're farther along than I am. I need to BUY my PTO. And shaft. And bracket that holds the cab lever.
Then I can start the install clock ticking.
I do have a 50 dollar HF winch thing in the bed though. Pulls quads up the ramps fine. Not gonna be much use for unsticking anything.
So...
I should have checked my text messages before my computer - word is he is out.
That's all I know. Well that and I got up early on a day off to go up there, but that's all I know.
That's pretty much all I'm going for since I'm nursing a sore back too. No digging or heavy lifting.
I have the whole cable from my winch off in a big container - just can't lift it in the truck myself so I can't bring it.
I never bothered to start buying snatch blocks since I haven't...
You COULD be right, EXCEPT my good friend Phil owns the 5 ton that was stuck and the busted PTO shaft.
So if Phil says it's stuck, then it's F ing stuck man.
BarneysZoo is a good troop who has been out there, got stuck, broke his stuff and is going back for more. He asked me to drive up...
Word I got is the 5 ton with the TWISTED PTO shaft is fixed and ready for another try.
PropDr - I hope you're taking care of my buddy Phil - I don't want any more texts of busted shafts or stuck 5 tons. I'll probably need him to save my azz one day.

Well if you were using just ONE, I could see how you might have a problem. If you had you buddies bring up three or 4 of them you would be getting stuff done, trust me.
I grew up in Iowa and I've seen two guys work four Hi Lifts at once to unstick some pretty crazy stuff. You're JUST in...
Were? Still am. 25+ short years later.
Yeah, I was in between commands and they "needed" me on the Nimitz. Leave was canx and I was on a COD out.
Good luck getting out with this new rain. I have a hi lift jack and lots of cable but I'm nursing a sore back. Wouldn't be much use other...
I road in the back of one the was filled with pax and gear. It was also moving a 6K lowboy forklift from Amphib to Amphib. Combat Cargo miscounted the number of availbile seats so I ended up riding in the forklift seat since it was my forklift (oh and I was the junior guy). The load and...
I went out in my civy pick up a week or so ago to "look" and see how bad a friend's SUV was stuck. A couple people were telling me it was IMPOSSIBLE to get out with my deuce. We checked everything out in the pouring rain and went to get the deuce. We were having FUN. Then due to some bad...
