While I had the CH42 plug out today, I went ahead and measured it. It is .4375 (7/16)x20 and mine measured overall 3 7/16 and 2 7/16 from the base of the nut to the end of the element. I don't know if the element wears down over time.

I thought my 003A glow plugs work fine. But I do have a compression problem with my #1 cylinder. So last night I removed the glow plugs and was doing compression tests. I noticed all four of my plugs were marked "Champion CH42".
I also remember seeing the above statement on the GMG parts...
