So any advice as to what to put in the front axle? I ASSuMEd that I could run a Detroit, OEM or Yukon as long as the hubs were unlocked on the street and I was careful off road. Others have told me that an air locker is best up front.
Thoughts?

Good on you man, but I would have just pulled that bed off. Me and soldier b pulled the bed off of a M105 just to upgrade to the more modern braking system. Did it with a single hi lift jack and some saw horses.

This is pretty much my plan, just one piece at a time. Hubs, then lockers. I'll install the lockers in the order that I think will give the biggest benefit 1st.
