    Not to ruin the joke stream with a straight answer, but the ski ramp is because they don't have a catapault. Limey's only used Harriers on their flat-tops. rather than go straight up, they get a rolling start with the ski jump. saves fuel on take-off. that's why they got so pummeled early on...
