    goldneagle's M52A2 restore thread

The hydraulic hoses on my wrecker are in very bad shape. Also have no experience using the wrecker and didn't want any problems. The buyer payed for the tow truck 8 months ago. It was a miracle day!!!!!!!!!:jumpin::jumpin::jumpin:fat lady sings

    goldneagle's M52A2 restore thread

Well today was a miracle day. They finally came to pick up the M52A2. Been waiting almost a year for it to leave. I hired a wrecker to come lift it up and drag it down the road to where the freight truck was waiting for it's cargo. With a drop deck it was easy for the wrecker driver to push...

    goldneagle's M52A2 restore thread

Actually I have not done anything to it in a year. I have been busy and I was trying to make more progress with my M109A2 project. One truck at a time! I also did not have money to buy the parts needed until recently. Now I want to at least replace the major body panels that make it look...

Well to update the latest on the truck. Cajun666 came buy to pickup the truck. After looking it over in person i could tell he had 2nd thoughts about tackling the project. I right away told him if he was not totally happy with the truck that i had no problems letting him out of the deal. I...

    goldneagle's M52A2 restore thread

Now that is not a nice thing to say about my truck! But that is what Justin Wehring delivered in the dark as a good truck that need a little work and brakes. Left it running in the yard cause the Engine Kill Switch was FROZEN! Talk about lack of disclosure!

    goldneagle's M52A2 restore thread

I replaced the frozen kill switch yesterday. It was a real pain! It was hard to reach the location in the dash to install the nut on the back of the switch to secure it to the dash. Then it was hard to get my arm by the power steering column to attach the end of the cable to the IP shut off...

Thank you for your advice and support. This is going to be a slow restore! I can only do a little bit each day do the the HOT and HUMID weather down here. I also need to keep the expense spread out to keep in budget. :grd:

    goldneagle's M52A2 restore thread

Not much progress on the truck so far. Been busy with other projects and will not commit to major work until I have title in hand. I did order a new kill switch assembly and new horn button rebuild kit from Saturn Surplus. I had removed the frozen cable from the truck and the cut off on the...

I am not sure about the 24087. I saw some primer and then Strata Blue. The final color is a flat military green.

    goldneagle's M52A2 restore thread

Hey be patient! i had a lot of pictures to process. I spent today pressure washing the truck to try and remove the flaking paint. Hadn't used the pressure washer for 2 years so I needed to clean out the carb. Got it clean the 2nd attempt. I used a rotary 0 degree tip to power wash the loose...

    goldneagle's M52A2 restore thread

I was thinking of keeping her Air Force Blue. I see a lot of Blue Grey under the flaking CARC paint job. Not many A.F. trucks out there. I will take some pictures after the pressure washing to show you the color. i hope some of you guys will chime in and tell me if that is genuine A.F. color.

Thank you for your encouragement! Anyone got a good front piece off a 5 ton hood? I just need the piece from the seam to the front of the hood.
