Hey, so Clinton, why didn't you use a servo and a ram mounted to the axle and the tie-rod? That would take practically all the load off the steering box and drag-link.

Oh, you're right. I thought that was a sweet-type servo that would direct hydraulic fluid to a hydraulic cylinder that would be mounted to the axle/tie-rod. but looking closer, see that there's no ram pictured. THAT was what I think would make the best all-around setup.

Tom, I think you're misunderstanding how those servos work. It's actually taking almost all the load off of the original steering box. Personally, I think something like the kit the CCE has put together is probably just about the best way possible to adapt power steering to these vehicles.

That's a really nice looking kit! What kind of servo are you using? Will that kit work with the gear-driven 5-ton pump? Pics of kit installed? Price?

Tom, should be pretty easy to tap one of those boxes for a hydro-assist option, right? The other option would be to splice one of those steering shaft servos into the steering column somewhere. No kit available (yet), but would be a pretty slick way to go, and you wouldn't even have to replace...

Cool setup. Only curious as to why you chose to use a Toyota pump? It's just that most people building Toyotas who are running hydro convert over to saginaw pumps.

Would love to see what the steering setup looks like when it's all installed.

Lemme know if you want some help turning those into drawings that people could print and apply directly to their framerails.

Would guess that you could probably find something similar for a lot less money. A quick ssearch on pirate4x4 will probably turn up some good sources...

There are lots of options for that kind of stuff. Here's one source. Would be worth taking a look a Summit and Jegs have, but seems like the circle/dirt track vendors almost always have the best deals on universal motorsports parts like that.

m35-tom, can we see some pics of what you've got going on?

I'm not in the market, but I think that sounds pretty reasonable for a comprehensive kit (assuming the quality would be on-par with everything else m-35tom does).
