The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

    Well sadly, here's the "for sale" thread . . . http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?139540-1986-M1031-pickup-5-quot-lift-on-37-quot-H1-s-with-no-spacers-hydro-assist-twin-sticks

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

I read a few posts where people were talking about what a PITA it is to change the fuel pump. Holy Smoke they weren't kidding! It fought me every step of the way! But at least it's done. I hope to re-prime the system tomorrow if it doesn't rain and see if I've found my problem.

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

It's been a while since I posted so I thought I'd add a few updates. My starter was beginning to give me problems so I replaced it with a new gear reduction unit which works great. I did have to get a new support bracket from from the local dealership but they had it in stock so no issues. I...

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

I just replaced all the bulbs with LED's from superbrightleds.com. No brake controller . . . I don't plan on towing anything too heavy. On the winch, are you talking about in the front or rear? If front, I've seen a few guys mount the smaller winches between the frame rails, but I haven't done...

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

A few updates: Installed new LED lights all around, including a new LED specific blinker. After installing the LED's I noticed that the back-up lights weren't working. So I did some research and found out about the switch at the base of the column. I adjusted it and now the back-ups are...

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

Well the good news is that I finally got the alternator completely rebuilt. The bad news is that when I installed it I could tell from the Gen2 light glowing red that it wasn't working. ****! I know when it's time to turn something over to a professional so I took it to a rebuild shop today to...

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

It's a Delta Pro, model PAH1420002. Specs can be found here . . . http://www.deltastorage.com/downloads/sizecharts/delta_pro_aluminum_chests.pdf . They make a larger version as well but I liked the size of this one, especially with the gooseneck hitch in the bed.

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

Actually I end up getting some kind of bug so I really haven't done anything with the alternator, so thanks for the confirmation!

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

I'm starting the alternator rebuild. Evidently the rebuilt kit comes with a new style capacitor. I'm assuming this is the way it mounts?

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

This was an old school Warn bumper that was originally on a Ford truck. I had to make the brackets to mount it on the CUCV.

Oh, also bought a tool chest for the bed. I'm pretty happy with the way it fits . . .

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

I finally finished up the bumper this weekend. I was able to incorporate the shackles (in this case, from the rear of an M1010) into the new bumper. I may try to add the brushguard sometime later but for now I'm still having alternator issues. I ordered a rebuild kit and that will be the project...

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

A while back a buddy gave me a Warn winch bumper from a Ford truck he was scrapping. I've been wanting to modify to fit the CUCV so I started working on that today. I'm going to have to fabricate the mounts but I'm thinking it won't be too complicated.

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

So no sooner than I get the drainback hose replaced I take it for a drive around the block and when I shut it off, it won't restart. After a little troubleshooting I find I have a bad alternator. Since I converted to 12V a while back and was only running a single alternator, I swapped in the old...

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

I wanted to use the truck this weekend so I stopped by NAPA for some hose . . .

Is this what you bought . . . http://www.ebay.com/itm/GM-6-2L-6-5L-Diesel-Injector-Installation-Kit-Chevy-GMC-82-05-/221251438224?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item33839d0690&vxp=mtr#ht_1728wt_1161 , or something similar?

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

So here's what the old glow plugs look like . . . fortunately, they weren't swollen so no issues removing them. I cranked the truck up and it ran fine, so I walked away to put my tools up. When I came back there was a large puddle underneath the truck. I found a pin hole in the drainback hose on...

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

Hmmm, not sure what you saw . . . I had some extra wheels that I sold a while back. No plans on changing the 12-bolts I'm running now.

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

I didn't remove the radiator or fan shroud . . . just worked around it. Getting the old one off was a PITA though! I used a generic puller that for this purpose was too long. The screw was inside the fan shroud so moving the wrench was cumbersome to say the least. I ended up buying an installer...
