Hydro does denote water. But, as you stated, it can mean fluid other than water.
I get your pun. But, since he it trying to fix his gen and the real "hydrolock" (hydrostatic lock) in this case would almost certainly involve fuel, you may be confusing the issue.

I agree with PeterD. Judging from the condition of the business end of the injector you would have trouble making that engine run. At least you had the opportunity to get a refund. Had it been a GL purchase you would have bought it for good.
Can you accumulate enough liquid fuel by wetstacking to cause a hydrolock?
Even if you did, you should be able to turn the engine backward or it would kick back if you tried to start it.
That sounds right. I'm not near mine at the moment. I just wanted to elaborate on your idea of a lever for people who could drill a hole, but don't have welding apparatus.
Can you just thread in some bolts into the holes for the three not six bolt holes and use a lever between two of them?
If you take the fan cover off (with the injectors out) can you turn the motor over by hand using the fan?
You don't want to turn a 003 4 cylinder Diesel motor with a 5/8" headed bolt.
If it were mine I'd pull the starter and make sure it is doing what it is supposed to do.
Then I'd probably pull the injectors and inspect them. While they were out I'd squirt in some Marvel Mystery Oil, maybe 1/2...
I'll make you a deal on my MEP-003A. I can't seem to find time to fool with it. It turns over, but I haven't had a chance to try turning it over with fuel, yet.
