    The 10x10 pls is home!

Hey there Logistics! The only thing I know of specifically regarding the LVS version of the Detroit is that one just sold on GL not too long ago (probably within a month) that was specifically for the LVS. It was a sweet looking, basically brand new rebuilt engine (I would have to guess that...

    The 10x10 pls is home!

Hey Jesse, Sounds like it might be the same. Time will tell. I do know that the PLS uses (used) the electronic version of the Detroit Diesel 8V92TA (they were able to get it up to 500 HP by doing so and probably saved a few drops of fuel). Very possible that when they designed all of the...

    The 10x10 pls is home!

Hey Guys - First, the (3) "hatches" are just very shallow storage bins for straps/binders/etc. I wasn't sure myself until I got on top of the one on the truck. Thought one or more of them might have been access panels for some mystery container or what-not. But no, nothing that mysterious...

    The 10x10 pls is home!

Hey Don! By the way, got an e-mail letter from the Ypsi Club for the show. They wanted to thank everyone for bringing out the "big trucks". They said they were a big hit and brought back a lot of memories for the Vets. So, CUDO's to you and Mark for all of your hard work making the trip and...

Finishing the Lift and Setting the Flatrack Down. Wife had gotten home by now and she took over taking pictures! What a gal!

Loading Flatrack Raising "Grapple Hook", Backing up to Flatrack, and Starting the Lift.

    The 10x10 pls is home!

Loading the PLS Flatrack! Well, finally made the time/got up the courage to see if the PLS Load Handler is operational. Had the Flatracks stored on a trailer that I am going to need for a job in a couple of days - so no better time or reason! Not a lot of pictures of the actual lift off of the...

Pictures at the Salute to the Vets Just wanted to add some pictures of the PLS at the Ypsilanti Street Rod Club's "Salute to the Vets" Show that they had at Riverside Park, Ypsilanti, MI a couple of weekends ago. Great time had by all! Dave.

    The 10x10 pls is home!

Hey Rick, Yup, I have gotten used to the wire tags. Still catch myself trying to trace down a #16 wire and then realizing that it is a #91 wire (typically for grounds, I think, at least on the headlights)! Just been putsing around after work scuffing and "rattle can painting" the "PLS...

    The 10x10 pls is home!

Sorry Plowboy - Didn't mean to cost you any sleep over that dastardly mudflap! Personally, I like them better without them, but you gotta keep 'em legal like. Working from the "obvoius things" first to the more "appearance things" later. Dave.

A couple more pictures of the spaghetti behind the dash panel. Trust me - I was careful pulling this one out - nice and slow! Dave.

Hey Trainman, Just got lucky on Government Liquidation and asked my wife "Please, Please, Pleeeeeease!" Dave.

    The 10x10 pls is home!

Dash Pictures OK - stole about an hour between appointments and tinkered with the dash a bit. Yup, it is a bad dash light dimmer, but kind of odd, the dash lights are on whenever the ignition is in the "on" position, even with the "marker" lights off. Have to trace that down. Check out the Dash...

    The 10x10 pls is home!

Hey Guys - Honestly, with my schedule, I kind of wimped out on the wrenching. Just general maintenance stuff. But it did need ALL of the hydraulic lines replaced on the crane (dryrot). I know the limits of my knowledge for "what looks good and what looks ready for replacement" on heavy trucks...

    The 10x10 pls is home!

Tinkering Well, had some time this afternoon to tinker, and with the Salute to Vets Street Rod Show next weekend, I figured I better do a few of the things on the M1074 PLS that I have been meaning to do. She has always needed a little TLC in the rearmost mudflap area. Did find some new ones of...

    The 10x10 pls is home!

Hey caliber1, Ya, got lucky on this one - much that could have been wrong wasn't that bad. Needs new tires one of these days (age cracking), but that is not unexpected. Never thought this would come home when I ended up getting one of the PLS trailers. Funny how things can work out...

    The 10x10 pls is home!

Hey Ord22, Yup - this is one of the three that were let go via GL. Just getting my teeth into this one, but definitely not as much to do as on the wrecker. Mostly cosmetic, I think, but I havn't tested all of the systems yet (winch, crane, loading system, and probably a dozen sub-systems...

Trust me, kids are MUCH more important than any hunk of green steel. With the bunch of folks on this site, should not be a problem to hook up at a show or rally to see anything the young ones might want to play with. Dave

    The 10x10 pls is home!

Hey plym49 - Trust me - nothing to be jealous of. It's a real easy equation: 1 - Work your A** off 2 - Don't go on vacation 3 - Don't eat out much 4 - Wear your work clothes/boots until they are not recognizable anymore as clothes 5 - Have a very understanding wife 6 - Wait until the kids...

    The 10x10 pls is home!

Yup emmando - I could see the HUGE pin that you can take out for shipping the truck on planes and such - but I think the tires were just easier for the truckers/wrecker operator. Dave
